Relics of history, as fierce and formidable as they may have once been, can surely adapt to a new life—if lovingly restored. Such is the dramatic case of Alila Fort Bishangarh in the Bishangarh village of India’s Jaipur District. It’s an epic, stunning structure to say the least. Standing boldly atop a rocky hill—like a beacon of hope or power in some fantasy film—the fort is a unique example of Jaipur Gharana architecture, coming from both Mughal and British influence. It’s also ready to become your new favorite getaway.

This week’s #TrendingTopic is perhaps the only warrior fortress that’s been converted into a luxury resort. In the same structure that houses openings for firearms and turrets (known as burjs), you'll find multiple styles of royal suites and lavish public areas. It’s definitely one of a kind.

Utah is secretly the best place on earth, says photographer Renata Stone. It’s not hard to see why if you’ve ever visited the Beehive State. It's a dramatic landscape that's as alien as it is western, and it’s either drenched in sunlight or starlight. In short, IT’S AMAZING.

So when Stone's friends came to visit, she had a good number of stunning spots to take them. Her ultimate choice was Mystic Hot Springs in “middle of nowhere Monroe.” Thanks to her beautiful photography skills, you can see her and her merry band soaking in outdoor tubs on what looks like another planet. It’s a good life when you have friends in the right places—and Utah’s definitely one of them.

We’ve all heard about ice hotels and decked out glamping igloos, but this winter we’ve got our birthday bucket list goals set on the world’s first ice hotel to be open year-round. What’s more birthday worthy than heading to Sweden to chase the Northern Lights, sleep in an igloo filled with ice sculptures, and sip on one of thousands of icy cocktails at the Icehotel 365?!

This gorgeous, icy enclave of luxury igloo suites set in a small Swedish village emphasizes art, architecture, snow sports, and the joys of getting far outside your (typically warm) comfort zone. So go ahead and add some winter furs and puffy coats to your birthday wishlist, because it’s about to drop below zero.

There are certain dates you wait for in order to properly commence celebrating a favorite season. For spring, maybe it’s the first picnic or bike ride of the year. For summer, it’s likely the first beach day. For fall, most will say that it’s when they first see pumpkin flavorings hit store shelves or and coffee shop menus. For winter, this year anyway, it's December 9th, the day that Whitepod opened for the season.

This week’s #BirthdayBucketList is one of Switzerland’s most beloved winter attractions — and for good reason. Whitepod is an eco-luxury retreat that delivers an Alpine experience that’s wholly immersive in the landscape while remaining a supremely welcoming destination for those in search of chic design and comfortable living.
