Breaking news: NYC's newest design dream of a culinary destination just opened. Today. And we have the first look to share with you. Design wizard, Ken Fulk (possibly best known for Leo's Oyster Bar) is bringing his touch to New York City in the former Legacy Recording Studios building that has been transformed into a full service restaurant, wine + cocktail bar and walk up cafe. Wood paneling, brass fixtures and plenty of rich leather fill this nostalgic space that's a little retro and a lot sexy.

We spoke with this talented team of seasoned design and culinary pros to get a first look into NYC's most transportive new lounge that will top your party planning wish list – with two private dining rooms, book the space for a rehearsal dinner, birthday party or company holiday event from the team.

What is concept behind Legacy Records?

Designed by creative director Ken Fulk and developed by Eric Birnbaum of Imperial Companies, Henry Hall is a residential building that reimagines the luxuries of boutique hotel living for every day. With sleek custom finishes, vibrant colors and graphic patterns, Henry Hall evokes a sense of nostalgia presented in an upbeat, layered and elegant manner.

"It's high style amped up for a new generation. Nothing is too precious, nothing is too pristine, it is beautiful yet it feels like home." - Ken Fulk

What is the story behind this project?

Spanning two floors of what was formerly Legacy Recording Studios, the space is home to an 85-seat restaurant, a walk-up café, two private dining rooms, equipped with their own experiential open kitchen, and a cocktail and wine bar.

What was the design inspiration for Legacy Records?

The restaurant and cafe are a classic midcentury European setting with style references spanning generations, enhanced by a collection of large-scale contemporary art. Stand-out custom details include fluted wood paneling, aged brass bar tops and green coffered ceilings inset with cane. Softly worn caramel leather banquettes are paired with leather- topped tables and vintage schoolhouse seating surrounds a long communal table. No experience was left unconsidered, whether it’s a service bar topped in deeply veined green marble or the handsome take-away café counter clad in fluted teak.

Who is the team behind Legacy Records?

The team behind NYC’s Charlie Bird and Pasquale Jones (Robert Bohr, Grant Reynolds and Chef Ryan Hardy), will bring its downtown acclaim uptown and open its third venture. Arvid Rosengren, the reigning ‘Best Sommelier in the World,’ and former Wine Director at Charlie Bird, leads the hospitality team, which also includes master mixologist Jeff Bell from PDT (Please Don’t Tell) responsible for the innovative cocktail experience at Legacy Records. For design, Ken Fulk layered teak, marble and brass with accents of white, natural cane and sporting green for the restaurant.
