For the 13th gathering of Tassels and Tastemakers – a wedding, lifestyle and wellness industry event – the theme was celestial and guests were encouraged to donate to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The event was held at Casita Hollywood, a cool new venue with a mid-century meets modern-day, polished look.
As the guest list was comprised of industry folk, you can imagine there were plenty of creative event ideas tossed around. What made the cut? Well, there was an airstream that served as a cocktail bar, a shopping lounge, a glam station, a cocktail concierge, a celestial photobooth and a couple of cool neon signs and lounge spaces. Guests dined on sliders, fries and space-inspired nitrogen ice cream.
We recently caught up with the Be Inspired PR team, the crew behind Tassels & Tastemakers, to get the full back-story on everything they planned for this event. Here’s the scoop, straight from the lunar-loving source.
Tell us a little about Tassels & Tastemakers and this year's inspiration!
Tassels & Tastemakers LA 2018 was our 13th T&T event, and we went with an out-of-this-world celestial theme to complement the brand new mid-century Casita Hollywood venue. With this not being our first rodeo, we really wanted to incorporate a give-back element into this year's event, so we gave guests the option to donate to the Make-A-Wish Foundation along with their ticket purchase.
How were guests welcomed to the event?
When the party started, guests were greeted at the venue entrance with a decked out airstream bar from Hoddebros. They were serving celestial-inspired cocktails, including a cotton candy champagne cocktail that we still can't stop dreaming about. With drinks in hand, guests headed to check-in underneath a magical balloon installation from Bonjour Fête!
What was the design inside the venue like?
Inside the space, our design team decorated with hanging stars from SD Socialights, giant wall and floor vinyls, and modern floral installations from Foxtail Florals and Little Hill Designs, and we had a series of activations around the entire perimeter of the room.
Were there any fun interactive elements to the event?
We had a BoxFox shopping lounge, with mini gift boxes for every guest and VIP boxes for our media and influencer attendees. Next, we had a glam station with body and face glitter from Lemonhead LA and the cutest star and moon hair clips from Daydream Republic. At the far end, Modern Art Catering set up a delicious slider and fries station where guests could choose from a variety of seasonings and toppings. The overall favorite? Pickle salt!

After loading up on fries and all of the amazing tray pass bites, guests could enjoy the moon & stars themed photo booth from Smilebooth! We had the coolest hand-painted moon backdrop from Jesi Haack Design and gold glitter to toss – we saw some seriously amazing gifs and videos throughout the night! On the back wall, we had another gorgeous photo moment with hanging florals and a giant neon sign from Sketch & Etch Creative that said "More than all the stars." We're pretty sure every guest snapped a photo in front of that wall before leaving!
How did the vendors bring the celestial theme into their work?
Cocktail Concierge kept the drinks flowing from the indoor bar, each cocktail complete with a celestial inspired stir stick. On the way out to the patio, we created a giant star installation to honor all of our guests that donated to the Make-A-Wish charity cause. The patio was designed by the amazing All You Need is Love Events, and featured a deep space-inspired lounge with live music from Bob Gail Music. Supercool Creamery provided made-to-order nitrogen ice cream, and we had another neon moment with a huge moon installation that read "To the Moon and Back."
Any fun stories or moments from the night?
The event was so much fun, and we'll never forget some of the killer dance moves that graced the dance floor at the end of the night! It's always a treat to celebrate and network with the best of the best in the wedding, lifestyle, and wellness industries, and our 2018 event was no different. All we can say is... we can't wait for the next one!
