REPORTER: The Venue Report

We’re all about the new new here at The Venue Report so when we received an invite to Holy Matcha’s opening party, we jumped at the opportunity to see this anticipated spot first hand. Situated in the heart of North Park, a trendy foodie neighborhood, Holy Matcha is ready to assume the title of San Diego’s newest “must know” place. Get your Instagram ready, this all pink and palm cafe couldn’t be more photo worthy with it’s marble counter, brass fixtures, velvet pink booth, and palm print wallpaper. Seriously ‘grammers, this place is a photo snapping oasis. Oh, and they serve some pretty darn good (and inventive) matcha concoctions. We sampled coconut matcha, lemonade matcha, and almond matcha while sushi was served and guests mingled and obsessed over the design. We even got an on-the-spot matcha making tutorial from the barista, Mahala.

The ladies of BayBird PR also gave us the exclusive that Holy Matcha is about to be San Diego’s hottest new venue for not only weekend visits but baby showers, bridal showers, birthday parties and social events. No surprises here though as nothing rivals this unique, one-of-a-kind space in San Diego thus far. Talk about a matcha made in heaven.

Ladies, ladies, ladies! We’ve got a real (re)treat for you! This collection of thoughtful, inspired, creative women have rallied together to establish a series of restorative weekends in Northern California. Set in Tomales Bay during the first weekend of March, their next multi-day retreat is all about gathering women to establish new friendships and inspire one another creatively, personally and professionally.

The retreat in March is set to take place at a sprawling 19th century homestead, complete with organic farmland, towering eucalyptus trees, and an adorable cozy farmhouse. Hello, relaxation! The weekend will include workshops about storytelling, creativity, sparking inspiration, and practicing personal and professional mindfulness. Guests can also expect delicious farm-to-table meals between sessions and hanging with a community of cool ladies to boot. We recently sat down with the founders of Fog & Sage, Flynn and Stef, to chat about the inspiration behind these events. Naturally, we’re already feeling inspired to unplug, reconnect and recharge.

When winter finally gets around to easing up, everyone wants a solid way to transition into warmer seasons. All us adventurers and romantics want is simply a cozy party with friends, possibly outdoors (and a good drink). That’s where the Tequila vs. Mezcal Party comes in like a saving grace.

Such a celebration of agave is well overdue, and it took Layered Vintage partnering up with The Gold Leaf Project to make it happen. The festivities took place in San Diego and the Venue Report was lucky enough to attend. We had an absolute blast and wanted a few more details on how it all came to be. So we scooped an interview with Jill of Layered Vintage and Aly who coordinated the whole thing.
