From the mouth of Jen: Hello everyone, Jen here. I am a Southern Cali girl raised in Palm Springs AKA Hollywood's Playground. While the main traveling I do is on the Palms to Pines Highway from my current city of San Diego to my hometown of Palm Springs, I have an inner adventurer just itching to get out and explore all coordinates of the globe.
I have only traveled to three countries, but love exploring cultures and eating exotic cuisine. Art, is currently my main mode of transportation, as it is the vehicle that carries me to any place I can dream up. I have been an artist since the very day I could hold a crayon. It started with crayon drawings of upside down birds in pre-school to self portraits drawn entirely from an array of crayons in college. Later I moved on to paintings of abstract spaces. My passion for photography, design, paper, crafting (the kind with spray paint, wood chisels and razor blades – NOT scrapbooking), drawing, painting and graphic design has led me to where I am today.
HISTORY LESSON: I started out with the goal of majoring in fine art and later switched it up it to receive my BFA in graphic design along with a BA in advertising. I pursued a career with advertising agencies to satisfy my creative goals. These days I like to think of myself as an artistic superhero. By day I work as a graphic designer, and by night I put on another creative cape and really let my artistic juices fly high (pun intended), by creating event invitations. I started down this wedding and event highway with Cortnie of Canvas and Canopy. It wasn’t a road I even thought I wanted to drive down, but have found myself excitedly creating memories for families and friends. This whole wedding world has gotten really inventive and I dig it. Now, to collaborate with Cortnie again while working for The Venue Report couldn't be anymore amazing. As graphic designer for The Venue Report, I hope to organize all of this venue content to you in a beautiful and efficient way so you can make all your dreams come true, and mine too of course.
MY MANTRAS: I believe that every girl should wear fire engine red lipstick at least once in her life. I believe that you are not truly dancing unless your feet hurt at the end of the night. I believe that no good work happens unless you get your hands dirty, and that a big bowl Thai coconut soup along with a bubbly glass of champagne can cure even the hardest of days. I believe in drinking that glass of champagne freely without worrying about spilling. I think coloring books are still cool, and I encourage my kiddos to scribble both inside and outside of the lines. Last, I believe in trying a new recipe a month. Food is too fantastic to not explore it.
With that said, I’m ready to go somewhere CRAZY, fun, unique, radical and amazing!! My favorite noise is the sound of a champagne bottle popping, so let's crack one open and CHEERS to this fun adventure ahead.
