What happens when you combine a quick change of venue with a couple that's as effortlessly cool as they are unique? You get this modern bohemian wedding at Colony 29 in Palm Springs designed by Amorology Weddings

Sometimes last minute really is the way to go. A naked teepee, black candlesticks, gold accents and jewel tone decor set a romantic mood against the natural landscape of Colony 29’s lush desert grounds. Feel the intimate and enchanting vibes of this wedding for yourself!

We LOVE Colony 29 for the intimacy that it allows our clients and their guests! It's like it's own private little oasis tucked away and nestled at the base of the mountains in Palm Springs. What was once an artist's colony, now allows a couple to stay with handfuls of their nearest and dearest for the full weekend and enjoy all the character and charm the space has to offer!

When Jen and Brian came to us, they had just cancelled their Dominican Republic destination wedding due to the Zika outbreak and had to move the celebration State-side. The couple wanted a place where they could surround themselves with the family and friends they would have been traveling with and luckily for us they turned to one of our favorite locations, Colony 29, where they could all gather together and stay nearby. The desert oasis set the perfect backdrop for their modern boho palette of nude whites/dusty nudes and dark moody jewel tones of raspberry, muted turquoise, emerald, and magenta.

As a nod to how their relationship developed – the couple met as neighbors in an apartment complex sharing a wall – Jen and Brian were married under a teepee to symbolize their two homes now becoming one. Guests also sipped on specialty drinks during cocktail hour, one of which was "The Neighbor Boy," a reference to the nickname for Brian coined lovingly by Jen's friends during their early courting days.

The Dainty Lion brought us wild and free blooms to further adorn the ceremony and reception spaces and compliment the surrounding rose gardens, orchard trees, and flower vines. To lend to a more relaxed cocktail vibe, we brought in an eclectic mix of modern bohemian elements throughout and added candlelight and ambiance to the atmosphere with black taper candles and brass candlesticks. Guests dined at low tables among rugs and moroccan poufs or smaller clusters of tulip tables set with geode slabs and brass chargers. The evening was warm and intimate and truly a reflection of our couple.

Within the short planning window we also learned that Jen and Brian, while opposite in many ways, are also each other's better half – and as such we decided to pay homage to this by hanging fringed hemispheres on a marble backdrop to represent two halves of the same moon. Seating assignments for the guests were gathered from this display on calligraphed crystal moon rocks that doubled as favors to take home. The evening was nothing short of magical!
