Sweeping views of the blue, blue, blue Aegean Sea and the craggy hills of Santorini set a stunning backdrop for this late summer wedding at Rocabella. The venue sprawls along the edge of a cliff, giving the illusion of being one of the only places on the island. For this couple’s wedding, the weekend kicked off with a relaxed day on a catamaran followed by a local barbecue on the boat. Fast forward to the wedding day, and guests enjoyed a ceremony overlooking the water before being led by local musicians to the reception area beside the sea.
Here to give us the full scoop on this gorgeous real wedding in Santorini are wedding photographers Teo and Anna of Lighthouse Photography. We can’t help but appreciate their ability to not only admire, but also capture a colorful, crisp Greek sunset.
How did you meet the couple?
James and Laura found our work while searching on the web. They emailed us in order to ask for some more information and they booked us straight away. We met in person two days before the wedding.
What did all of the pre-wedding activities look like?
The couple arranged a sunset boat trip one day before the wedding. It was such an amazing activity for them and their guests too. A beautiful catamaran picked them from the Santorini port and they began this beautiful trip. After two stops for funny dives around the volcano, they enjoyed a barbecue meal on the boat. Absolutely Greek! The highlight of the boat trip was the amazing sunset that all the guests stared while relaxed on the boat. Unique moments!
Tell us about the venue!
The venue was the Rocabella Santorini, one of our favourite venues on the island. The volcano view is insanely beautiful and the sunset is right in front of your eyes. The wedding planners made sure the guests arrived right before the sunset to witness one of the most amazing sunsets of their life. Just amazing.
What was your favorite location to shoot?
Our favourite spot for photos was right in front of the Hotel. Some random rocks in the Caldera were the perfect spot in order to have the best photos with the red-orange-purple sky as our background. Magical!
3 days in Santorini – What was the highlight of the wedding weekend?
Three days in Santorini means tons of amazing pictures. However, the highlight was the sunset boat trip and the reception at Rocabella. Beautiful decoration in front of the most breathtaking view ever! What else would you ever ask for your wedding?!
