Ever since Cuba opened its doors to tourists, we’ve been having level-9 freakouts about how stunning the small Caribbean country is. With its beautiful and crusty old 16th century architecture and classic Spanish Colonial style, Cuba offers an experience that seems to be almost frozen in time. The warm beaches and lush overgrowth of the countryside, the bustling beat of Havana, and the incredibly charming people of this island make it seem alive with authenticity.
The brilliant duo behind the lens at travel and photography blog This is The Place I Was Telling You About recently trekked to Cuba with the Cuba Travel Network. Not only were they willing to share their insanely gorgeous photos, but they’ve also given us the full scoop on their trip. Read on for the highlights.
The Venue Report team was recently invited to follow the call of the disco ball by the team at Be Inspired PR. Ummmm, who would pass up on that kind of invitation?! Take us to our happy place please. In addition to the promise of disco tunes, delicious food and jungle vibes, we were extra excited to attend this annual #TasselsandTastemakers event because it was being held at one of our fave Los Angeles venues, HNYPT.
We walked into the stunning and dramatic blank warehouse that is HNYPT ready to rev up our boozing engines. We were promptly greeted with glittery crafted cocktails, suspended palm fronds, neon lava lamps slowly dancing to the music, sparkling fringe hanging from the rafters and tunes blasting from every corner of the sprawling space. This crew of creatives crafted a jaw-dropper one part "Saturday Night Fever" stayin alive and one part bohemian jungle feels.
In 1927, seven sycamore trees were planted in Ivanhoe, California, and the rest is history. The story doesn’t end there—in fact, it only gets better. That’s because, decades later, the orchard and farmland would become one of Central Valley’ premiere wedding venues. We're of course talking about Historic Seven Sycamores Ranch.
See, long before there were pergolas, brick paths, and ivy-laden trellises, there sat a warm and inviting homestead. Settled in the shadows of sequoias and surrounded by orange trees, the homestead remains gorgeously surrounded by its 120-acre ranch. History has remained a key component of the property, with its World War II observation tower and the barn's vintage windows being taken from a local school. New life has been no stranger either. Everything from olives to camellia flowers have popped up over the years. What may be most magical, though, is that current ranch owner Bob McKellar was raised on the property. His parents planted those iconic sycamore trees.
Here at The Venue Report, the office culture tends to be different then most corporate enviroments. We have pink doors, disco balls in every corner, plants everywhere and leading the charge are founders, Cortnie and Donny Fausner. A married couple that started The Venue Report in their home. Throughout their journey of building this company from the ground up, the question, "How does your working relationship effect your personal relationship?", always seemed to get asked. Their response? "It doesn't. Plain and simple. We stay in our lanes and if we by any chance want to cross over we put our blinkers on. We love what we do and talk about work all the time. It's our other baby (Lola is what we like to call her offline) and doing what you love with the person you love is one of the greatest gifts."
That response inspired our February series, Better Together. There are so many rad working relationships out there and we are so excited to share a few with you! This week's Better Together feature commences with long distance besties and Girl Bosses, Renata Stone (also goes by Nata) of Big Bear Photo Co. + Knottery and Rachel Lunghi of Siren Floral Co. + The Romantik Studio. Together they are the ultimate dynamic duo after hours and during. Having colaborated on multiple weddings, photo shoots and even vacation iteniarys, these two share how they better together.
