Hidden in the heart of Glen St. Mary, Florida sits a charming historic cabin and nursery turned wedding venue surrounded by sky high pine trees and acres upon acres of forest greenery. This picturesque venue was home to Chris and Nikki Sirmans on their special day and we are all heart eyes over their location of choice. If you ever wanted to get married in the woods, these images will definitely solidify your heart's desire.

We recently partnered with Florida native and photographer, Kelly Martucci to share the inside scoop on the venue, the wedding and inside tips on how to capture the best "non-traditional" wedding imagery. Cuz' that's what the cool kids are doing now, right? Right!

In 1927, seven sycamore trees were planted in Ivanhoe, California, and the rest is history. The story doesn’t end there—in fact, it only gets better. That’s because, decades later, the orchard and farmland would become one of Central Valley’ premiere wedding venues. We're of course talking about Historic Seven Sycamores Ranch.

See, long before there were pergolas, brick paths, and ivy-laden trellises, there sat a warm and inviting homestead. Settled in the shadows of sequoias and surrounded by orange trees, the homestead remains gorgeously surrounded by its 120-acre ranch. History has remained a key component of the property, with its World War II observation tower and the barn's vintage windows being taken from a local school. New life has been no stranger either. Everything from olives to camellia flowers have popped up over the years. What may be most magical, though, is that current ranch owner Bob McKellar was raised on the property. His parents planted those iconic sycamore trees.

When winter finally gets around to easing up, everyone wants a solid way to transition into warmer seasons. All us adventurers and romantics want is simply a cozy party with friends, possibly outdoors (and a good drink). That’s where the Tequila vs. Mezcal Party comes in like a saving grace.

Such a celebration of agave is well overdue, and it took Layered Vintage partnering up with The Gold Leaf Project to make it happen. The festivities took place in San Diego and the Venue Report was lucky enough to attend. We had an absolute blast and wanted a few more details on how it all came to be. So we scooped an interview with Jill of Layered Vintage and Aly who coordinated the whole thing.

Rainy Bridal Shoot
Romantic & Moody
English Countryside
REPORTER: Alyssa Brown

As any Downton Abbey fan will happily reminisce over, the wedding scene when Lady Mary finally marries Matthew Crawley is easily the most beautiful wedding scene in all of TV history. With the perfect amount of light flooding into the big, airy mansion, and the abundance of gorgeous flowers in an otherwise dark and moody setting, there’s an air of old English gloominess that makes the celebration that much sweeter. You can imagine our excitement when we got our hands on this photo shoot with a similar vibe.

We recently had a fill-us-in session with the shoot’s creative director Amanda Rose of Oak and Cypress and photographer Kristen Marie Parker. The dream team gave us all the details of the inspiration behind this stunning photo series and the incredible property. Spoiler alert: there may or may not have been a sighting of a ghost.
