Historic Shady Lane

475 Shady Lane, Manchester, Pennsylvania

Carry yourself like humbled royalty through the chateau-esque stone and tree-adorned grounds of a once famous whiskey distillery centuries ago. As generations came and went, the land where Historic Shady Lane sits has remained well nurtured and preserved, as if untouched by time. As it stands today, this aged, wooded and elegant plantation tells a unique story. It's gardens, interior design and structural craftsmanship are just a few of the elements that come together to tell this enduring tale. Those lucky enough walk its 17th century hallways, peer out through floor-to-ceiling windows, overlooking verdant landscapes and trout filled streams, understand the real power of HIstoric Shady Lane is intrinsically felt, not told.

With plenty of outdoor acreage for large-scale events or weddings, ample parking, and numerous indoor entertainment space, this farm makes for a fitting stage to host one serious all out bash of your dreams.

A short while ago, The Venue Report received a rare glimpse into the beauty that is Historic Shady Lane. A big shout out, thank you, up top, to Char Co. for sharing their words, photographs and thoughts on this historically significant Pennsylvania estate.

See You in the Desert: A Fashion Girls Guide to Palm Springs
Jamie Eddy
by Jamie Eddy

A short while ago, the Venue Report talked all things fashion, design, and photography with creative female #bosses Allison Wagner and Jenna Bechtholt. Wagner, a graphic and web designer led creative direction, and Bechtholt, a lifestyle and wedding photographer snapped the shots. Together, they conceived one seriously iconic editorial in the sweet summer heat of Palm Springs, California.

The two ladies played off of one another’s ideas, conceptualizing where and what to shoot, knowing the valley setting offered the perfect aesthetic and backdrop for a heady mix of retro, colorful, contemporary and fabulous architectural design. The Pink Door House, Moorten Botanical Garden, the Saguaro, and the ultra-giant windmills, were ideal backdrops, allowing Wagner and Bechtholt’s "See You In the Desert" dreams to come alive.

Their vision of stylized spaces, inordinary structures and native plant props, in conjunction with apparel featuring bold prints and funky accessories made for one HOT editorial feature, (pun totally intended). We had a chance to sit down with them both to discuss theiir vision and of course, venues.

Hideout

Jalan Alas Tunggal, Duda, Karangasem Regency, Bali, Indonesia

What if you could purchase a parcel of land in paradise and build your dream home on it? Surely you would. Of course you would. Anybody would. It’s eternal, universal daydream. Anyone from any country has hoped to do exactly that. So it’s surreal to find a couple who actually did it—and is now offering the place up to travelers.

This week’s #BirthdayBucketList is Hideout, the (properly named) eco-friendly, off-the-grid escape in Bali, where owners Ali and Jarmil checked a gigantic item off their bucket lists. Building their serene fantasy abode beneath a volcano and amid rice fields was a life-changing process for them. They had high hopes and, after several months of construction, their finished bamboo bungalow still managed to blow them away. They expect Hideout will do the same to its spirited guests.

Surrounded by jungle and overlooking a tranquil river, Hideout was made to welcome adventurers in search of total peace. Given that Hideout’s most frequent guest is the gentle breeze, it’s hard not to see how a visitor wouldn’t cure any and every stress. Stunned by such an exotic slice of heaven, our crew at the Venue Report had to ask Ali and Jarmil about the inspiration, the building process, and what they hope others can achieve at their dream home.

Even those who have never bounced east of the Mississippi have a picturesque fantasy about the Hamptons. They see sleepy thin fences hugging wooden lovebird boardwalks with splashes of long, wavy grass rolling against the beach. They see a foggy breeze giving the New York coastline a nostalgic palette of muted colors. They see themselves celebrating romance beneath pale beach ball lanterns aglow in a class-act tent with the warmest cheer you can find after sunset.

Cabanas Cuatro Cuatros

Federal Hwy 1, Chapultepec, Ensenada, Mexico

There are moments that capture your heart, give it pause, and allow you to admit to yourself that not everyone is lucky enough to be where you are and have your life. Overlooking the sea while sipping a cocktail, surrounded by vineyards, mountains, and olive orchards, with your luxury tent behind you is almost assuredly one of those instances. That’s one of the (very many) reasons people adore a glamping stay at Cabañas Cuatro Cuatros.
