Known for its culinary crowd, art scene and easy access to wine country, Cape Town is a mecca for travelers looking to get an urban experience in South Aftrica. Making waves in the Cape Town hotel industry, the Silo Hotel is a new luxury waterfront hotel that sits above a contemporary museum. With cool architecture that dates back to the 1920s getting some very modern updates (hello, pillowy steel windows!), this spot just opened in March and is already trending worldwide.

Cream of the Crop
San Francisco
REPORTER: The Venue Report

As a longstanding event industry insider, I have been lucky enough to know bada** lady bosses Paige Appel and Kelly Harris of Bash Please for almost a decade. I'll never forget the very first Cream event they threw many moons ago and I have since watched it grow to epic proportions where the 'cream of the crop' gather in the event industry. Yes, The CREAM is a curated experiential event, showcasing the most innovative and creative people working in weddings . In fact, The Venue Report has even been lucky enough to have been invited to be a part of The CREAM in the past.

How did these girl bosses come up with the idea? Paige Appel and Kelly Harris of event design sensation, Bash Please, founded the CREAM event in 2010 after seeing a void in the wedding market. They wanted to take the traditional ballroom wedding fair and turn it into a fun party where vendors could think outside the standard 8x8 box. They knew vendors and couples alike were seeking a curated wedding showcase highlighting the raddest people in the industry - gone are the days of bland ballroom fairs. #GENIUS

REPORTER: The Venue Report

For anyone who remotely follows the world of fashion, you know the colossal show that Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel pulled off involving the gorgeous Grand Palais outfitted with a functioning rocket ship. Yes, rocket ship. The futuristic structured outfits, pumped up hair and Twiggy-esque makeup painted a neo-1960’s scene (after all, Mid Century is all the rage right now) complete with a rocket take off reminiscent of 1968.

What was perhaps the most striking element was the juxtaposition of the rocket ship taking off into the glass ceiling (well, almost) of the Grand Palais. Hidden messages ran throughout the show touching on the women’s rights movement historically as it originally gained momentum in the 1960’s all the way up to today where we’re facing unprecedented setbacks. Serious girl power vibes occurred throughout and ahem ladies, let’s break through the glass ceiling in 2017?
