Heather Ash
by Heather Ash

Here’s a match that we (or anyone else for that matter) never saw coming - Tinder and Delta Airlines. This unlikely but totally genius pair have swiped right on each other to bring Brooklyn a little humor and a lot of press. ‘The Delta Dating Wall’ is printed with exotic locales for singles to take selfies in front of with the tagline “World travelers are more likely to be swiped right.” True? Probably.

... And that's not all! If you are in the NYC area you can also join in on the fun IRL at Tinder and Delta's June 17th "singles-centric" event.

This Well-Known DJ Has The Coolest New Project Up His Sleeve

For Michael Antonia the hustle has never stopped. He was the kid who mowed every lawn, shoveled every driveway and rode three paper routes. He was the teenager who built bikes out of junkyard parts and sold them to his peers, the wunderkind who started DJ-ing by night while booking and producing shows in night clubs, theaters, and festivals by day. He was also the college graduate who was swept up in the energetic orbit of Alex Calderwood, founder of Ace Hotels, a collaboration which would launch him into the design world. What is now years ago, this young father-to-be started an event production company from his dining room table during a recession and over the next few years, cultivated it to become "The Flashdance," one of the most highly regarded brands in the wedding and event industry. Even in the midst of success, Michael continued to see holes in the industry, such as the downright awful furniture at the events he produced. Naturally, he launched YEAH! Rentals in 2011 to runaway success followed by the retail counterpart, YEAH! Furniture, where thousands of hours of rigorous testing by way of weddings and parties helped him refine each design.

The Flashdance is a creative collaboration whose disparate elements complement each other to form new approaches previously unheard of. Antonia oversees it all as the formidable godfather figure who pushes his collaborators to increase their notion of "best" by five notches, yet maintains an effortless candor in his relationships and a spring in his step as he dashes from project to project.
The Flashdance now houses 6 companies and covers nearly every aspect of event production, whether it be furniture and props from YEAH! Rentals, photo/video/design from YEAH! Weddings, or a damn good Flashdance DJ. Antonia stays closely involved as the creative director and marketing expert while also finding time to keep his DJ-ing as sharp as ever and getting his music fix at the same time by working as the music supervisor for the Ace Hotel. Antonia has been featured in Paper Magazine, NPR Marketplace, Reverie Magazine, Apartment Therapy, Remodelista, Herman Miller's blog, Refinery 29, 100 Layer Cake and Martha Stewart Weddings and has made appearances on E! & Bravo, to name a few. While this mastermind does it all, he still has room for one more passion project. Keep reading for more on Office Space, Los Angeles' newest venue by this creative genius.

Luce Loft

1037 J Street, San Diego, California

If one thing is certain, you know your love is strong when your S.O. encourages you to pursue your dreams across the country and fights to keep the love alive throughout your long distance relationship. That's just one small portion of Mike and Bernadette's love story that was founded in San Diego. After a year of Bernadette living in the hustle and bustle of New York City, Mike decided that he simply could not live with out her for one second longer and hopped on a plane to pop the big question in front of the iconic 1922 Jane's Carousel with the Brooklyn Bridge Park & Manhattan skyline in view.

Fast forward to the wedding where the couple decided on San Diego's Luce Loft for their west coast reunion and we caught up with them shortly after to get the deets on their happily ever after. Seriously, when the creative couple behind local San Diego brand, Tethermade, throws a party, you know it's going to be a visual masterpiece! We'll let the photos do the talking...

Light Lab

3405 Glendale Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA, United States

So what is Fashion Feng Shui? Here's the backstory. In 2008, Catherine Sheppard of The Life Styled moved from New York to LA. She had no job set up, but knew that she wanted something different for her life plan than the event marketing path she had kind of fallen into. Right around that time, her mother (a Feng Shui practitioner) told her that she discovered something that sounded up Catherine's alley: Fashion Feng Shui. On a whim, she signed up for the 3-day certification course and flew to Boston for it. During those three days, Sheppard was in her element (no pun intended). She was the youngest person in the class by a good 20 years but was inspired and open to a world of possibilities for her style, career, well being, and that of others.

How does one figure out their style? What makes you different than the rest? It’s a big question. These days, there is so much out there. Pinterest and Instagram are chock full of outfit ideas, and we can all easily find our favorite bloggers to follow. But after a certain point, doesn’t it get a little stale? Sure, there are plenty of cute outfits out there, but sometimes when you go to recreate it, something feels off. What’s REALLY right for YOU? What makes you strut down the street rather than just walk? What makes other people look at you and go “she’s really got something”? Catherine has the answer and is telling all.
