Guess what?! San Diego is stepping up its luxury hotel game and it's starting with The Guild Hotel. As part of The Venue Report's Hottest Hotel Openings of 2019, The Guild was named one of the most anticipated openings with our San Diego reporters – and since opening, we can't stay away. The vibe is just what San Diego has been missing, from a sophisticated lobby with contemporary flair to an outdoor courtyard that will transport you to the French Riviera. Enjoy the contemporary Mediterranean cuisine at Luca or order an Aperol spritz from the bar to sip outside in the garden. Whether you are staycationing for a romantic weekend, meeting friends for dinner or hosting a special gathering in the former YMCA basketball court that has been reimagined into a light-filled ballroom, we will see you there anytime!

A Sophisticated Stay

Natural light illuminates every room alongside a stylish, historical vibe. Designed for every type of world traveler, the rooms at The Guild Hotel offer guests dramatic views of the city that are sure to inspire the modern explorer. From the Artisan room with large, historic arched windows to the Penthouse that offers a 2 bedroom, 2 1/2 bathroom layout with a rooftop garden terrace, wherever you rest your head, The Guild is your new sanctuary.

Al Fresco Dining

The Guild Hotel’s all-patio restaurant, Luca, can be found just outside of the lobby serving creative-contemporary Mediterranean cuisine. They offered a special tasting menu that included an array of delectable bites and drinks. Some of our team favorites were the Cured & Toasty (prosciutto di parma, lemon mascarpone, fennel, romano, truffle), Mr. Figgy (roasted red peppers, fig jam, whipped goat cheese, pistachio dust), and Beautiful Scallops (preserved lemon, chive aioli, brown butter risotto). We downed it with red wine from Palacio Remondo’s La Montesa and cocktails such as the Guild Old Fashioned (Suntory tiki, blood orange liquor, luxardo, bitters, nitro pushed) and Steeped (Ketel One botanicals, cucumber, mint, ginger liquor, mint tea, sauvignon blanc, lime).

Event Possibilities

How to take your event to the next level? Having it in the former YMCA basketball court, the Grace Ballroom, of course. With 3,500 sqft of wide open space, there is endless potential for any event held here! For weddings, you can have the ceremony in the beautiful outdoor garden terrace, just outside the Grace Ballroom. If you are feeling like having a more intimate gathering, we'd recommend the long table at Luca in the center of the courtyard!
