Join Jessie Sheehan as she walks you through her favorite cake recipe.

Looking for that simple and delicious cake for the chocolate lover in your life, that “one-bowl” cake-of-your-dreams topped with billowy marshmallow frosting?

Please join Jessie Sheehan, baker and author of The Vintage Baker, while she walks you through the preparation (and consumption!) of her Devils Food Sheet Cake with Sea-Foam Frosting, one of her favorite recipes from her new book - not only will you find out why the frosting is called sea-foam, Jessie will also be sharing a little history about this “vintage” cake throughout the class as well.
Included in this class, in addition to your very own Devils Food Sheet Cake with Sea-Foam Frosting is a signed copy of Jessie’s book which is chock full of over 50 recipes inspired by Jessie’s vast collection of vintage recipe booklets, some of which you’ll get to see.

Jessie Sheehan is a baker, food writer and recipe developer. She is the author of The Vintage Baker and the co-author of Icebox Cakes (Chronicle Books) and has developed recipes for many cookbooks, besides her own, and has contributed recipes/and or written for Epicurious, Fine Cooking, TASTE, and Main Street Magazine, among others. She blogs at and is the FeedFeed editor for the Brown Sugar and Icebox Cakes feeds. She likes layer cakes with lots of frosting and cookies that are thick and chewy. Oh, and she has a soft spot for chocolate pudding. She lives in Red Hook, Brooklyn, with her husband and two boys, not far from her beloved Baked, the bakery where she got her start.
