Le Pigalle Paris

Paris, France
Billed as sort of the “anti-opulent” hotel (but no less beautifully curated than some of it’s larger counterparts), while still reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the Montmarte neighborhood, its recent renovation revels in the “thugs, artists, adventurers and musicians” it attracts. Le Pigalle reflects the gritty, yet gorgeous and interesting Parisian subset that appealed to generations upon generations of artists who lived and breathed in this neighborhood for years. Head to the Ground floor for your fete – “It has a café, bar and restaurant, a vinyl record library, and a newspaper and book kiosk, all run by the colourful characters who make Pigalle what it is. There are parties, DJ sets and table dancing, providing guests with a foretaste of what they can expect as they explore the uncharted jungle that is Paris.”

Each set of remarkably designed villas are inspired by the ethos of local Thai clans of old. Our favorite? The Bird’s Nest Pool Villas – the exteriors of which – no lie – mimic the woven tangle of a bird’s nest and feel like decadent tree houses – which you KNOW we love. They also come with sea, rainforest and resort views as well as a monsoon shower and a beautiful bathtub with a view.  If you’ve got more of a nomadic, adventurer’s spirit – try the Tent Pool villas – which is glamorous glamping like you’ve never seen.

The Hotel Emma

San Antonio, TX
A luxury destination hotel in… San Antonio? That’s right your eyes dost not deceive you. This beautiful lady was once a former 19th century, abandonded brewhouse, (the hotel is named for it’s former owner and proprietor that kept the brewhouse running and her entire workforce employed during Prohibition), but thanks to the design genius of Roman + Williams, (behind the Freehand Hotels), it’s now open as of November 2015 and reminiscent of a fine-old hotel with modern touches found in far-flung locales. Choose from a pool terrace for intimate cocktail hours, a private residence or historical indoor and outdoor spaces. Bonus?
