American Trade Hall was originally built as a branch of the National City Bank of New York, financier of the Panama Canal. Venue Features
The Scene:
Our historic event spaces offer something unique in Panama City — old world elegance with modern capabilities. Our Rooftop Terrace and Art Deco American Trade Hall — with its 30 foot ceilings, floors laid with herringbone, reclaimed old–growth timber acquired through underwater logging in the Panama Canal and state–of–the–art audio systems — are pitch perfect settings for a memorable experience, while our modern conference rooms provide the tranquility your attendees need to open up, think creatively and collaborate. Interiors reflect the building’s cosmopolitan architecture with a mélange of styles from Austrian secessionist to Mexican modernist to Italian postmodern.
Standout Venue Features:
If you’re hosting a wedding party or other occasion for family and friends, our spaces are adaptable to your needs. We can tent our Rooftop Terrace so that your guests can enjoy panoramic vistas of the city and the Panama Canal all year, secure one of Casco Viejo’s five historic churches for your wedding or just about anything else you could request. You can customize a menu to have your event catered by our on–site restaurant for up to 600 guests. The restaurant is a contemporary American bistro helmed by Chef Clara Icaza — who worked at famed New York restaurants Arizona 206 and Aquavit before opening Limoncillo in Panama City — with pan–American flavors and a focus on fresh, locally–sourced ingredients. We also offer secured valet parking for up to 300 cars.

Tables, chairs, linens and silverware are also included with the venue fee.

American Trade Hotel

American Trade Hotel, Panama City, Panama

In Panama City, modern society cozies up to the Old World for a unique and charming experience, one that’s perfectly captured at The American Trade Hotel. The American Trade Hotel—AKA the Ace Panama—is a vibrant gem at “the ecological and cultural crossroads of the Americas.” Housed in a gorgeously restored landmark building, the getaway for classy jetsetters and worldly travelers alike only opened its doors a few years ago and already has a grand reputation.

It’s the hotel’s breezy balance of chic and comfortable that does it. Furniture pieces of bold earth tones are picturesquely set against black and white paint and tile in the rooms’ simple, stylish aesthetics. Meanwhile, contemporary minimalism warmly welcomes guests to the lounges and garden courtyards. At the American Trade Hotel, everything feels like in its rightful place and nothing is overdone. As we’ve adored the American Trade Hotel since it hit the hospitality scene, we chatted with Spotted SF’s Leslie Santarina, who was recently a guest. Even though her ventures are predominantly based in San Francisco, she has a wonderful habit of exploring the rest of the world too—and she has good taste.
