Venue Setting

Casa Mãe is a property with a lot of heritage, the gardens are bordered by the 16th century antique walls, it is located in the historic part of Lagos, 5 minutes from the main beaches - our first guests already referred it as a peaceful 'oasis'.

About our 2 restaurants, they are very much based on the farm to table concept, everything is homemade/ home baked/ homegrown, from the bread to the veggies! One restaurant offers a casual fine dining/ gourmet and seasonal menu and the other one healthy, raw food and gourmet breakfast options cooked in an open kitchen, both using the produce of our inland farm cultivated according to organic and permaculture principles. In addition to the farm, in the hotel property, we have a vegetable garden, as we have preserved the original terraced garden where we are rehabilitating the old irrigation system fed by the antique water well of the property.

Accommodations
At Casa Mãe we aim to be a space open to the community, and welcome locals and visitors in our spaces. In our property with more than 7000sqm we will have three different spaces and atmospheres - the carefully renovated master house from the 19th century with 5 unique rooms, the 3 rustic outdoor Cabanas in the aromatic garden and 22 rooms in the contemporary new building called Jogo da Bola.

In our main building, which gives name to our hotel, Casa Mãe, we have only 5 suites, all of them with different shapes and personality. Is a beautiful old house form the 19th century carefully renewed, with original wood details of the ceilings and windows frames preserve the unique character of the house, complemented with modern and vintage furniture.

Then located in the middle of our garden, surrounded by plenty of plants, scents of herbs and trees we have our 3 Cabanas. They are spacious rooms, each one with his own private patio with outdoor showers and hammocks. They are perfect for those seeking tranquility, privacy and a true garden experience.

Finally, we have our Jogo da Bola building, which is our biggest building with 22 rooms. There you can expect modern and minimalist design, big terraces in all the rooms, with hammocks and the traditional Portuguese reixas, those traditional wooden grid panels that create a special atmosphere with just enough protection and transparency.

But if you’re only able to get to this part of the world in the summer, you’ll still enjoy peace and quiet in the hinterland and less populous islands. And while Porto and Lisbon may be well known travel destinations, the islands and hinterland regions of Portugal offer some of the country’s most stunning landscapes. Ready to start planning a trip?
