Venue Setting

The village, built around 1100, belonged, from 1361 to 1894, to two noble families from Siena, i Tolomei and i Piccolomini. Later, in 1894, it became property of Pietro Emilio Targes de Rochefort, a member of the French aristocracy.

Today, the magnificent Castle remains settled inside the village, sheltered by Porrona’s medieval walls. The scenery reveals one of world’s most unique and untouched places where natural beauty, history, art and gastronomy all meet - portraying an enchanting atmosphere in Tuscany, Italy.

Castel Porrona Relais is composed of 25 rooms, suites and apartments, indoor and outdoor restaurants, spacious common areas, clubhouse, bars, outdoor swimming pool and state-of-the-art wellness facility, Agua SPA.

The restoration work of Castel Porrona Relais has been achieved with full respect to its original architectural details, preserving precious components throughout the complex such as terracotta tiles, red bricks and stone-clad walls. The result beautifully highlights the medieval spirit of the building, retaining its historic integrity and authenticity.

Weddings and events can be held at the large garden in front of the medieval Castle, in our Clubhouse or in the internal or external area of our Il Chiostro restaurant, according to each specific request and number of guests.

The property is located within a short drive from relevant historic, cultural and tourist attractions such as Siena, Firenze, Montalcino, the hot springs of Saturnia, Maremma’s National Park and the glamorous coast of Punta Ala. Castel Porrona Relais is the ideal destination for a sea and countryside escape.

The Castle combines its remarkable history with the comfort of a family home, which has been recently renovated whilst retaining its unique character.

In a world of its own, the atmosphere conveys an undeniable sense of calm, tranquillity and uniqueness that will soothe the mind and energise the spirit.

A medieval Castle completely refurbished in 2016 for its very recent grand opening.

Castel Porrona’s 25 rooms, scattered throughout the buildings of the historic village, invites select guests to experience living in an inhabited medieval town with refined interiors and all modern comforts.

All different from one another, rooms, suites and apartments feature intimate interiors with precious fabrics and warm tones, exhaling romantic elegance. Antique furniture has been carefully selected from different areas of Italy. Magnificent high views over the least explored Tuscan countryside invite Guests to experience a throwback to other times.
 
All rooms feature air conditioning, hairdryer, beauty amenities, minibar, coffee machine, complimentary wi-fi, multi channel LCD flat screen with Mediaset Premium TV.
Standout Venue Features:
We have a pastry chef in house that prepares daily a huge bread assortment, sweets together with our executive chef that prepares seasonal Tuscan dishes slightly revisited from the vegetables and herbs from our own garden.

The garden in front of the medieval castle is something totally unique, surrounded by nature and only 22 inhabitants that live in the village of Porrona. It is like living in a theater or film scenario.

Our Moroccan style spa offers a number of olive oil and wine rituals as well as two internal hydromassage internal pools and an outdoor pool with breathtaking views over the Tuscan countryside.
