- The Scene:
- Goncanseco is a location with more than 150 years of history, located in the heart of San Jose del Cabo, Baja California Sur. Its history dates back to 1870 when it was known as "La Voz del Sur" of businessman Arturo Canseco (uncle of the Gonzalez Canseco brothers). These warehouses were part of the first supermarket in town, which were of great interest to the brothers Manuel and Valerio Gonzalez Canseco, who decided to buy these stores from their uncle, turning them into Gonzalez Canseco Hnos, wholesale and retail merchandise stores, exporters and importers, and Ford Motor Company dealers for 25 years. Later, Manuel Gonzalez Canseco, with great vision, acquired the entire property and decided to change the name of Gonzalez Canseco Hnos. to "Almacenes Goncanseco", thus giving it the name that the Venue has at present.
In 2018 and for more than a year the descendants of Don Manuel Gonzalez Canseco began the renovation project of the place using the materials that were in it in order to respect each of the spaces that were part of its history, such as doors, windows, beams, sheets, bricks, walls and even the cobblestone was reused to give life back to this location that is now a magical place for the realization of events. - Design:
- Goncanseco expands for 1600 sqm. The distribution of the space and the various warehouses and nooks enhance the dynamic of any event. The venue has been carefully designed with lightning and greenery to bring the space to life whilst leaving room for unique design visions. In the space you will find beautifully refurbished supermarket counters, original metal sheets as walls and decoration, old wood planks for doors, and the hand-made brick floor made with dirt from the same space.
