Venue Setting

With 850-acres of undisturbed natural beauty in the heart of the British Virgin Islands, Guana Island is a private, family-owned island resort for the discerning traveler. The island is home to seven pristine beaches and miles of tropical forest, mountains and dramatic flora and fauna. Named for an iguana-shaped rock outcropping on the South side of the island, Guana Island offers fine dining, a distinctly social atmosphere and world-class accommodations. With acres of privacy per guest (no more than 35 guests at any given time), and no marina or public facilities of any kind, Guana Island has come to exemplify the best in laid-back luxury.

Venue Features
The Scene:
Guana Island is named for an iguana-shaped rock formation on its northwestern coast. In the 18th century, it was occupied by two Quaker families, the Lakes and the Parkes, who raised cotton and sugarcane. The Island’s main house was built on the ruins of the Park estate, and there are still Quaker walls, sugar mills, canons and other ruins in evidence around the Island. When the Quakers departed, the land reverted to local ownership. Beth and Louis Bigelow bought Guana Island in 1935 “there was no electricity and no hot water, but we all dressed for dinner.”

In 1975, Guana Island was purchased by Henry and Gloria Jarecki who over the years has improved the Island’s facilities while retaining its natural and historic style and ambience.
Design:
Newly renovated, the rooms at Guana Island are spacious and bright, with magnificent views of the sea. Each guest room was designed to offer a peaceful tropical retreat and the utmost in privacy. All rooms feature lavish appointments, including high thread-count bed linens, Nespresso machine, beach bag and Red Flower bathroom amenities. The resort provides wash-and-fold laundry service at no charge to guests.

Designed to be an escape from the hustle and bustle of life, guestrooms at Guana Island are intentionally absent of TVs, phones and computers, with the exception of Harbour House Villa and Jost House Villa. The resort offers complimentary WiFi; an office computer and cellphone are available for guest use.
Standout Venue Features:
The island is for our inhouse guests only. Guana Island features an organic orchard with fresh mango, pineapple, coconut, banana, soursop, key lime, tangerine, papaya and a selection of vegetables. Guests can visit the orchard to pick the different fruits and taste them. Guana Islands Executive Chef is using everything that is grown in the orchard and serve it our guests.

Eats & Drinks
Food, Restaurants, Cafes, Bars & Lounges
Food, Restaurants, Cafes:
The Guana Restaurant, led by Executive Chef Xavier Arnau, offers breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as afternoon snacks, pre-dinner hors d'oeuvres and a full bar.  Using techniques learned during stints at El Bulli and Nobu (London), Chef Arnau’s four-course dinner menu regularly incorporates local seafood, and produce taken from the Island’s organic orchard. With tables set overlooking the ocean, the Restaurant is one of the most visually dramatic spots on the island, and also provides guests the opportunity to socialize with guests before and after dinner.

All meals are included for guests in the cost of their stay. Wine is also included with lunch and dinner for all guests, as well as after-dinner coffee and liqueurs.
Bars & Lounges:
At the Club there is a fully stocked honor bar for guests who would prefer a cocktail.
