Located in the heart of The Movie Colony, La Chureya is a five bedroom, six bathroom Spanish Estate completed in 1934. Having undergone an extensive refresh, it stands a stunning example of preserved period architecture married with modern luxury amenities.

Exceptionally rare for it’s prime in-town location, the 1¼-acre grounds are lush and manicured, with mature fruit trees, a rose garden and mature palms seen throughout. A courtyard is anchored by a cobalt blue fountain and is accessible through multiple French doors. The large rustic alfresco dining area seats up to 10 guests with ease, under a trellis wrapped in bougainvillea. Built-in custom tile benches and flagstone walkways that lead to the Tennis Court or Pool surround the courtyard. The in-ground pool is surrounded by chaise lounges and oversized umbrellas, making spending a day poolside simple! A poolside cabana offers bar style seating, refrigerator and icemaker. Set to the southeast and tucked into a small grotto, a custom in-ground tile spa provides exceptional views to the west and mountains beyond!

The Scene:
With over 1¼ acres of walled and gated grounds, La Chureya is the perfect Palm Springs retreat for those seeking privacy and space, while enjoying close proximity to downtown Palm Springs. Since 1934 four owners have called La Chureya home, including the family noted for building the Beverly Wilshire Hotel and Spanish born Tennis Coach and Professional Jose Higueras.

Guests enter the grounds through the Main Gate and are greeted by expansive green space, a private tennis court, the Main House and detached Casita.  A pull-through motor court allows guests to exit the property with ease, onto an adjacent side street.

The Main House and detached Casita offer over 4,700 square feet of indoor living space. The Main House welcomes guests with an oversized period wooden door, opening into the expansive Great Room. Large Restoration Hardware leather sofa, armchair and ottoman provide the ultimate in comfortable seating for quiet conversation and relaxation. Anchoring the Great Room is the original wood-burning fireplace, ideal for taking the chill out of a cool Desert night! The east end of the Great Room provides the homes indoor formal Dining Area, with a reclaimed farm-house style wooden table offering seating for up to 10 guests with ease.

Adjacent to the Great Room, the large Chef’s Kitchen features modern amenities with an old-world charm. An oversized industrial workbench serves as the island and provides ample space for all levels of culinary creativity. The full suite of Stainless Steel appliances includes a gas cooktop, double ovens by Viking and Sub-Zero refrigerator with water filter. A full stock of high-end cookware from Cuisinart, Le Creuset, and All-Clad are sure to further inspire your creativity. Located just off of the Kitchen is a large outdoor cooking area with tiled counters, bar sink, large built-in propane grill and patio heaters.

The detached Casita is located on the northwestern end of the property. Featuring a full kitchen, dining area and sitting area, this is truly it’s own private living space for those seeking additional privacy while at La Chureya. The Guest Quarters features a Queen sized bed, Flat Screen TV and en-suite bath with single vanity and custom tile walk-in shower. A private courtyard with chaise lounges provides a quiet outdoor sitting area for those staying in the Casita.
