Foxie Morgan has lived on the property her whole life and loves to share its charms and secrets with her guests; from where they hid the booze during Prohibition to tours of the Ice House which has hosted a few games of poker for the groomsmen.

The Scene:
Pharsalia is a place where history never gets old. Pharsalia is an 1814 plantation home built by Thomas Massie for his son William as a Wedding Present. It is located in the Tye River Valley and sits on the shoulder of DePreist Mountain in Nelson County, Virginia. At its height, Pharsalia’s working farm was part of a family owned tract in excess of 10,000 acres. Crops and products produced at Pharsalia included Wheat, Hops, Tobacco, Potatoes, Apples, Cranberries, and Smoked and Cured Bacon and Hams.

Pharsalia’s fresh cut flower farm capitalizes on the seasonal abundance of blooms available in Virginia. With a backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains, grower Foxie Morgan cultivates native and specialty blooms for purchase.

The Historic Pharsalia home is available for dressing and pre-ceremony traditions, as well as a post-ceremony self-guided tour for your guests.  You will also have access to an indoor bar area, the gorgeous cocktail courtyard and our pristine flower and herb gardens where your guests can mingle and take in the majestic mountain views.  We only host one wedding a weekend so the focus is on you!
