Venue Setting

Ambassador Chicago is located in the legendary Ambassador East Hotel, built in 1926 in the Gold Coast. Utilizing features from the historic building, Ambassador Chicago features a décor with wildly eclectic pieces and furniture to appear random and jumbled, as if personal possessions, gathered over a lifetime. As a result, the hotel reflects an aesthetic that is personalized. The style exudes comfort with individualized style of dark stained, cerused rift-cut oak wood flooring, accents of luxurious silks, imported Italian leathers, 12 karat white gold-leaf wall coverings and custom designed pieces by Christian Liaigre. 

The food concept was created by world-renowned and James Beard award winning chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten with a “farm to table” concept supporting local purveyors and regional flavors. We are happy to custom tailor any menus for your needs in both dietary requirements and personalized touches.

A reinvented and reimagined hotel and Pump Room with a new food concept by James Beard award winning chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, will continue to be the fashionable spot it was originally envisioned to be, for an eclectic mix of people who come together to socialize and dine as they have for past decades.

Standout Venue Features:
Astor is located on our 17th floor of the hotel, the Penthouse floor and features plenty of natural light as most of the room has views. White linen drapery and window sheers, as well as blackout shades are provided if needed. The room features a neutral and soothing décor of dove grey, crisp white and taupe tiling throughout.  Astor features a private powder room, conservatory and an outdoor terrace with teak-lined flooring. The terrace features views to the North, East with lake views and south to the city. Weather permitting; this is a fantastic space to take in the city for your guests. Astor is 682 square feet indoors and 645 square feet on the terrace for a total of 1327 square feet.

The Pump Room is a landmark feature of PUBLIC Chicago dating back to when it opened in 1938 and is approximately 4000 square feet with dimensions of approximately 100X39.

Library Lounge:
The Library features original wood moldings that have been restored to interpret a traditional English Gentleman’s Club with 20’ ceilings of exposed, reclaimed wood beams and Douglas Fir wood columns. The Library features the enormous, Brancusi inspired, custom limestone fireplace with a roaring fire and blackened steel hearth. Above the fireplace hangs a 24 karat gold leaf painting by Brooklyn artisans of Callidus Guild, along with four photographs by Dutch photographer Hendrik Kerstens.
