Venue Setting

Welcome to gorgeous and historic Rixey Manor! We understand that when it comes to looking for a wedding or events venue, you have many options. We are proud to say we are the only custom-built wedding venue to offer spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and a roof-top ceremony space from which to take full advantage of their breathtaking beauty.

We are also one of the few exclusive-use venues in the USA. This means that everything we have to offer, including our four en-suite bedrooms, is yours – and only yours. You will not be sharing any space with other visitors such as you would at a winery, hotel, or bed and breakfast that is open to the public.

Exclusive-use venues are the ultimate in luxury, privacy, and flexibility. During your rental period we will make sure that you are not disturbed by outside people and help you feel at home. We will also help coordinate your day into your dream happily ever after, from a wedding walkthrough to bustling your dress.

When guests know that they are only surrounded by your other guests it makes it much easier for them to mingle and get to know each other. Conversely all the sofas and rooms in the house make it easy for older guest to sit comfortably and let people come to them.

It also means that the bride and groom have the staff of Rixey Manors complete attention in making the day go off without any surprises.

Rixey Manor can also be yours for up to a week, with everything we have to offer available to you. We also offer extra services such as vineyard tours, historical tours on and off the property, or just fun games for the whole family (animals included) to enjoy right on site.

All you have to do is ask.

Venue Features
The Scene:
Rixey Manor was built by the Rixey family in 1801, and had been in their family for almost 200 years. It has large rooms, soaring ceilings, and stunning vistas. We have just finished the process of remodeling it, turning it from a well-loved family home into the perfect place to begin your new lives together. The venue now includes elegant features such as crystal chandeliers, four poster beds, and claw foot freestanding tubs. You will also be able to enjoy four luxury bedrooms with en suite bathrooms for your comfort and privacy.

We just completed the building of a 1500sqtf Ballroom with a 1600sqft RooftopTerrace. It has 9ft ceilings, half-a-dozen chandeliers, and floor to ceiling windows with Blue Ridge Mountain views.

Design:

The Grand Staircase wraps around a 3 tiered pewter chandelier. At the base of the stairwell is a closet for the bridal parties' use. There are three rooms off of the stairwell including the Bar (complete with chalk board, beer tabs, and a solid walnut bartop), which in turn leads into the ballroom, with it's floor to ceiling windows and crystal chandeliers.

Our furnishings are a mix of beautiful antiques from the Brandon Plantation (designed by Thomas Jefferson), oversized sofas from Restoration Hardware and eclectic treasures picked up on our travels. The Library features a working fireplace, built-in books shelves stocked with books and games, and a chess/back gammon table. The Formal Sitting Room is the perfect place for us to serve High Tea and Champagne to celebrate your day, and opens to our crystal chandelier lit Dining Room. We can seat 16 people in the dining room for rehearsal dinners or intimate weddings.

Standout Venue Features:
Love. It sounds cheesy but all you have to do is read our reviews to see that we pour love into every wedding, and for every guest. We wany you to have the wedding of your dreams.
Extra Perks:
Tables, Chairs (260), and all the household inventory for using as you want within your vision.
Awards & Notables

We are consistantly considered one of the top Wedding Venues in Virginia, and the surrounding states. We have won Best of the Knot every year since opening, as well as Wedding Wire couples choice. We have gone viral with our photo shoot with Madeline Stuart, and were just highlighted as one of the top 10 venues by one of the biggest wedding magazines.

Rixey Manor

Rixey Manor, Pleasant Hill Drive, Culpeper, VA, United States

Here at the Venue Report, we look for variety, we crave rarity, authenticity, the sort of “I was jumping up and down unable to grasp how something could be so cool” type of originality. Just the other day, we found ourselves in that exact over the moon excitement state of being. Isadora Martin-Dye, owner and serious interior design savant of the famous Rixey Manor, sat down with the Venue Report to talk love, crystal chandeliers, rich history, and a whole lot more.

Rixey Manor, built in Culpeper, Virginia way back when in 1801 was bought by the now owners, Isadora and her husband, 20 years ago. They gave the Manor one heck of a face lift, including a 1,500 sq ft ballroom with twenty crystal chandeliers, yes I repeat, twenty crystal chandeliers. However, Isadora’s favorite addition to the home is the balcony rooftop terrace, a whopping 1,800 sq ft overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains, unlike any other estate in the area. If that’s not cool, then I don’t know what is. With the help of photographer Lisa Blume, she and Isadora truly find a way to showcase how seriously out-of-this-world this vintage yet comfortable venue is, let’s take a look.
