Venue Setting

On October 18, 1926, the Cater DeHaven Music Box opened with a revue called Fancy. Among the first investors in the new theater were John Barrymore, John Gilbert, Reginald Denny, King Vidor, and Mae Murray.

The Music Box switched from revues to the legitimate theater in 1927 with the west coast première of Chicago. Stage plays continued at the Music Box for nearly two decades

One of Hollywood's first legitimate theatres, The Music Box Theatre, later renamed The Fonda Theatre experienced a variety of incarnations during the 1920's, 1930's, and 1940's as part of an entertainment district of exceptional quality and diversity. Keeping with that tradition, The Fonda Theatre re-opened in 2012 and has hosted performers such as Pearl Jam, Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry, Radiohead, Stevie Wonder, Black Crowes, Alabama Shakes and Mogwai to name a few.

The Fonda Theatre's history and character create the perfect setting for award ceremonies, film/tv shoots, corporate meetings, private parties and banquet dinners.
