Inside Scoop

Joshua Tree is a small community made up of musicians, artists, and explorers. In the village you will find locally owned and run restaurants, art galleries, music venues, and vintage shops. Some of our favorite places to eat include: Sam's Indian Food, Crossroads Cafe, Natural Sisters Cafe, the JT Saloon, Country Kitchen, Royal Siam Thai, Pappy & Harriet's, and La Copine. As for vintage shops, we love Route 62, Holly's Trading Post, the JT Trading Post, Pioneer Crossing, and The End. Also make sure to check out the great music venues in the area including Pappy & Harriet's and the JT Trading Post!

The village of Joshua Tree is walking distance from the house (about a 10 minute walk). Driving around the village is incredibly easy as well. We're about a 10 minute drive to Joshua Tree National Park.

Venue Features
The Scene:

Welcome to the Joshua Tree House!

This hacienda was built in 1949, one year before the Joshua Tree Inn next door. It was originally built as the innkeeper's quarters. With over 100 Joshua Trees on the property, the views from the house are magical. If you’re up for it, sunrise on the front porch is incredible. We estimate that some of the larger Joshua Trees on the property are as old as our country!

We hope you love staying at the house as much as we do.

Design:
With incredible shiplap ceilings, worn concrete floors, spanish tiles, and incredible views, this house has a ton of built in character. Our goal in designing the space was to let those qualities shine. We did so by bringing some outdoor colors in, such as the peaches of the sand and blues of the sky. The rest of the palette we kept fairly neutral. Some of the furniture in the home is Mid Century modern, while still honoring the rustic tones of the house.
Standout Venue Features:
When staying at the house, the property is your private desert oasis. We provide freshly roasted local coffee beans from the Joshua Tree Coffee Co., which you can brew just in time to watch the incredible sunrise from the front porch. We also provide board games, as well as a record player in the living room for further relaxation.
Extra Perks:
Our dining table easily seats your group of six or fewer (we also have a table leaf that can be added). All plates, bowls, silverware, glassware, and napkins are ready for your use, as well as cookware such as pots, pans, bakeware, and cooking utensils.

The Joshua Tree House

Joshua Tree, CA, United States

One of our favorite hotel landing spots in Joshua Tree, the Joshua Tree House is now offering up their ahhh-mazing little vintage 1969 International Vintage Scout 800A for daily rentals. That’s right, you can use this man-candy vehicle to romp around the desert and arrive everywhere on your list in style. Oh, and by the way, it’s painted white and (drumroll, please) everyone’s favorite Pantone color of the 2017: Greenery.

“And what would I do with such a baller vehicle in the desert?” you ask. Plan a picnic on a dirt road that’s only accessible via four-wheel drive. Book a photo shoot with a handful of the best vendors you know. Arrive in style to your own wedding. Use it as a mobile DJ booth or bar backdrop for an epic desert party. Pop the question – yep, THAT one – to your soon-to-be-fiancé in the middle of the Cholla Cactus Gardens. Throw a mattress on top and go star-gazing in the park. The options are limitless, friends.

We recently connected with Richard Combs, owner of The Joshua Tree House and our favorite Scout to catch up about his crush-worthy SUV. Here’s what he has to say about taking Scout on the road.
