The Report

Calling all students! Put your pencils down and escape to a schoolhouse where you won't be tested on anything but your relaxation and drinking skills. No we are not talking about college, we are talking about this stunning downtown Park City boutique hotel and iconic historic landmark. Washington Schoolhouse was built as a school in 1889 and has now graduated to a new level of luxury. After the completion of a total interior renovation (think gutted to the studs), this fabulously preserved 1889 limestone gem reopened in December 2011.  There are twelve spectacular rooms/suites for you and your crew to rest your heads at night, reclaimed oak barn wood floors and mountain ice-white marble in the baths. Historic living space with 16ft ceilings, roaring fires, chic ski lounge, heated pool, wine, trees and stars. This is not like any school we have ever been to.

The furnishings you ask? The schoolhouse has a curated collection of European antiques, vintage modern paintings, crystal chandeliers, silver flatware and serving pieces. They even took a little time to create a few custom pieces of their own. You really won't need to do much decorating for an event here. Just bring your trapper keepers, pencil pouches and super chic party dress.

HOW WILL MY GUESTS GET HERE?: Located in the heart of breathtaking Park City, Utah, just 35 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport.

THE SCOOP

Whether you are hosting a summery or snowy soiree, The Washington School House Hotel can give your team, board or group all of the ingredients for an unforgettable experience.  You want to organize a gathering, meeting or intimate dinner party? Go for it, and host a week-long retreat or day-long escape. The schoolhouse group event team will assist you with every detail and are way more fun than good old Mrs. Jones, your fave 3rd grade teacher. They will help with corporate team-building activities or with setting up the bridal shower of your dreams in one of the world’s most beautiful and luxurious mountain locations. Don’t even try to be a teachers pet or earn extra credit. The dedicated meeting staff doesn't choose favorites and will not want you to lift a finger. Offering complete event planning services, the team is at your disposal to provide the ULTIMATE retreat, gathering or intimate shindig.

Didn't you dream of taking over your school as a youngster, becoming class president and serving delicious food instead of that icky cafeteria stuff? Well this is your chance to run the show at your own school for the week or weekend. You and your guests (or shall we call them classmates), can completely take over the twelve spectacular suites.  Your guests will be able to conveniently stumble to their rooms after your fireside party and wake up to a hearty mountain breakfast cooked by the onsite private chef. Additionally you and your crew can relax in the private chic ski lounge, only available to guests of the schoolhouse, indulge in customized spa treatments and fill the remainder of the day with Park City’s premier activities, planned by the WSH Group Event Team.

The entire party, whether a holiday party, retreat, bridal shower, rehearsal dinner, or corporate event will be with a private chef, private dining, surrounded by private antique and art. All so wonderfully… private.

WHAT WILL MY GUESTS EAT?: The chef has crafted a menu featuring a modern and organic approach to classic American fare. Breakfast is unavoidable. Après-ski fare fireside in the chic ski lounge is nearly mandatory.

Perfect for:

  • baby shower
  • birthday party
  • bridal shower
  • corporate event
  • dinner party
  • holiday party
  • group getaway
  • social event
  • Reunion

BONUS

A few extra details about the rooms/suites we think you should know: The beds are layered with Pratesi luxury bed linens and extra throw blankets (always fresh, patiently waiting for a good cuddle). Hooded robes (for the trip to the really warm pool in the really cold weather) are in every room along with lush slippers. You need to scrub-a-dub-dub? Well they have Molton Brown Luxury Bath and Body Products (you’re welcome).

STYLE FOR YOUR SETTING

1. George Washington: Washington School House is definitely too cool for school. They have their own store with products created just for them! Like these uber neat Washington oil paintings. Mini versions of the original. Place them at each guests dinner plate for a nod to Washington himself. 2. Chalkboard Cake: Any schoolhouse soiree is not complete without a chalkboard. This chalkboard happens to be edible and way more fun that the ones you had to work out algebra equations on! Via Artisan Cake Company  3. Recess Rope Favors: A throwback to the old days of skipping rope during recess, this white + navy blue rope comes in a canvas storage pouch, and is crafted by a family-owned company that has been making jump ropes in Oregon for generations. Your guests will love this schoolhouse walk down memory lane via Schoolhouse Electric.

INSIDE SCOOP

There is a heated pool and spa tucked into the hillside surrounded by aspens, spruce and boulders. The outdoor fire? Yea, warm up next to a steel Olympic torch from the 2002 Winter Olympics in Park City! The hearty mountain breakfast and fabulous apres-ski fare are complimentary of course. The schoolhouse offers In-house lift ticket purchase and boasts an Apothecary Boutique – exquisite original selections exclusively for guests. One more fun fact? Check out the custom silk scarves designed for the hotel by New York Designer Jonathan Cohen.
