Municipal Grand makes a strong case for bringing back a more glamorous version of the bachelorette—one that borrows directly from the 1960s, but actually makes sense for how people want to travel now. If the Summer Holiday Club had a Savannah address, it would look a lot like this. Municipal Grand is a return to a slightly more glamorous way of traveling, where 1960s American International Style meets a modern sense of mischief. It's the kind of place where you start the day with brunch, followed by a boat ride, and slide into happy hour with tableside swan service. The building itself sets the tone. Originally a bank, then a municipal building, it’s been restored with its 1960s American International Style intact.

This is the Holiday Summer Club, Savannah edition where robes with swan logos come in every room, calling to mind Audrey Hepburn in 1960s Breakfast at Tiffany's—with the the eye mask, the lounge robe, and the idea that getting ready (or staying in) is a main part of the bachelorette party weekend .Then there’s the pool. The Sun Club leans fully into that mid-century resort language with red-and-white umbrellas, clamshell bases, and proper loungers, and is perched on the rooftop for glorious sunset views.  Finally, the martinis. The swan service lands squarely in that 1960s cocktail party tradition when drinks were served with proper presentations.

That’s the throughline here. A bachelorette that feels plucked from a glamorous bygone era and is less hangover-filled and more 60's coded.

Arrival Style: A Renovated Mid Century Bank Building

0

You feel it before you even check in. A former bank building, but make it bachelorette right on Broughton Street in Savannah’s Historic District. Municipal Grand still reads like what it once was; a midcentury bank, but updated into a chic boutique hotel where the architects and designers thoughtfully kept the bones and let the 1960s American International Style lead.

Think clean lines and that subtle Mad Men undertone, with forty-four rooms, two bars, one rooftop pool, and a ton of bookable, bacheloretty-weekend-worthy experiences.

Consider this your opening move upon check-in. An ice-cold gin or vodka martini, served in swan decanters, with a full set of DIY accoutrements and a side of properly salted fries. Checkmate.

It’s a direct callback to the kind of cocktail hour that defined the 1960s, when the popular method of hosting was to set up a self-serve station to keep the drinks flowing while the host actually got to socialize. Order it poolside, in-room, or wherever you’ve decided to settle in.

Every room comes with a plush set  of embroidered robes with swan logos, which means the getting-ready portion of the weekend already has a dress code. Very Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s: the eye mask, the lounge robe, the swan martini station... The pregame has entered its Old Hollywood era.

Grab the matching eye masks and consider this your 1960s screen-siren moment, but with room service. This is where your weekend officially starts. Swan robes and martinis first, city later.

Channel the '60s era with the kind of patio party that used to anchor an evening, cocktails on trays and drinks served cold (ideally in swans).  Book a patio suite and you’ve effectively secured your weekend headquarters. The Large Patio King Suite is designed for this exact scenario: a walkout patio with multiple seating groupings, a wet bar, and enough space for both daytime lounging and late-night debriefs.

Inside, you’ve got a dining and lounge setup, but it’s the patio that does the work for morning coffee and pre-dinner drinks. It functions like a 1960s living room would have—open, social, and slightly magnetic.

The 1960s are widely considered a golden age of boating, when a day on the water wasn’t an add-on. It was the plan. Entire afternoons were built around it. The best ships are friendships, and nothing proves that faster than a few hours on the water with the right group.

Savannah is charming from the cobblestones, but it’s better from the water. Municipal Grand’s partnership with Joyride Boat Club makes this an easy pivot: out of the city and into winding creeks, tidal marshes, and those wide Lowcountry views that feel like you’ve left everything behind (in a good way), with spritzes in hand and caviar within reach.

Don’t go boating empty-handed. Bring along a fully packed Municipal Grand picnic, add cocktails and a deck of cards, then commit to the bit: phones down, sunglasses on, someone dealing, and someone topping off drinks.

It’s very grandma-hobby, very analog, and very much the point of channeling the kind of afternoon people used to build entire vacations around. Real connection, in real life.

The rooftop Sun Club is where Municipal Grand is bringing back that unmistakable mid-century resort aesthetic, from back when the pool wasn’t an amenity—it was the vibrant social hub. A nod to the era and setups you’d find in the Catskills, Palm Springs, or along the great American road trip circuit where the bar and pool anchored the entire stay.

As the hotel puts it: “Enshrouded in greenery, the rooftop pool and bar is a relaxing respite… The Sun Club takes a nostalgic approach to poolside hangs.” And the details land. Red-and-white resort umbrellas, clamshell bases, proper loungers, and a rooftop pool with views over Savannah, all set right in the middle of the city.

Having the bar right there is what triggers full holiday-vacation mode, where it starts to feel more like a glamorous summer club than a hotel pool.

Mid-century cocktail party culture had a formula, and it still works: one drink you stick with, and small, structured bites that keep you in place. Do the same here.

Start with the Passionfruit Cooler (passionfruit soda plus your choice of tequila, vodka, gin, or rum). It’s light enough for the heat, consistent enough to order again without thinking. If you’re not drinking, the Phony Negroni keeps that same aperitivo structure.

Then order like a cocktail party host would: the Smoked Salmon Tartine with a hard-boiled egg, crème fraîche, capers, olives. It's the kind of plate that would have shown up at a 1960s cocktail party for a reason. These types of bites were standard fare because they’re salty, composed, and easy to eat without interrupting the drink or the conversation. The hard-boiled egg, in particular, has long been considered one of the great bar snacks—salty, simple, and built to go with a drink. It's the kind of snack super-chic hosts who knew what was au courant would serve.

Speaking of bygone-era glamour, Municipal Grand can arrange a pastel pink MOKE tour for you and your crew; the perfect bachelorette weekend accessory.

Originally designed in 1959, the MOKE went on to become a resort-world icon, beloved by the Beatles, Bardot, and Bond. It was spotted everywhere from St. Barths to St. Tropez, Mediterranean coastlines, and Caribbean islands. Now, at Municipal Grand, it becomes your top-down way to explore Savannah: canopied squares, vintage storefronts, local boutiques, stately homes, and all the sultry Southern charm in between.

Less rental car, more Bardot-at-golden-hour.

Just downstairs, but a world apart from Municipal Bar, The Hot Eye is a low-lit, loungy bar made for the final act of the night. This is your late-night anchor: the kind of after-hours lounge where you have that one last conversation with your group before bed. It channels the mid-century spirit of the nightcap, a term that originally referred to the cap worn to bed as far back as the 14th century, before becoming shorthand in the 1800s for a small drink at the end of the evening (the liquid equivalent of putting the day to bed).

Order the Femme Fatale with gin, Americano Rosa, bay laurel, and cacao if you’re leaning glamorous, or the High Society with single malt Scotch, Oloroso sherry, espresso, and mole if the night calls for something more dramatic. For the non-drinker, the Phony Negroni keeps the after-hours energy without the actual nightcap. Very 1960s, very worth going downstairs for.
