Venue Setting

In 1990 Mauro Checcoli engineer bolognese and Olympic gold medalist (Tokyo, 1964), along with his family, bought from a pastor the ruins of the Abbey of San Giusto in Tuscania, a Cistercian abbey founded in 1146 in a state of neglect by more than six centuries. They immediately decided to revive it by engaging in a difficult and a bit 'crazy path of excavation. Restoration and reconstruction began in 1994, and is now nearly completed. Today the Abbey of San Giusto is an organic farm that produces eco-friendly essential oils, but is primarily a multi-purpose and multi-faceted place designed to accommodate travelers, artists, nature lovers and art. This magical place yet for many, as for those who chose then, is a unique setting, where the work of man and nature come together in a pristine valley between the river, fields of lavender, and olive trees.

Venue Features
The Scene:
The nearly one thousand years of history that can be felt in the halls of the San Giusto and the Valley of the River Marta are the perfect setting for events and ceremonies of extreme beauty. The beautiful valley of the River Marta around the ancient monastery, a place where art and nature coexist in perfect harmony. The ancient halls of the abbey: The Chapter House, the Scriptorium, the Cellarium, the Secret Garden, the dormitory of the monks, the Tower, the roof terrace, are suitable for guests in every season; the ancient church can be the backdrop for an unforgettable ceremony. The uniqueness and beauty of the environments do not detract from the functionality and variety of spaces, whether for a small number of guests for large events. The atmosphere, lighting, attention to detail, everything is marked by the utmost respect for the history of the place and the rooms are as they were at the time of the foundation. All this is certainly not at the expense of modern conveniences: rooms are air conditioned and the Abbey, exactly where the old kitchen of the monks, is home to a very modern professional kitchen
Design:
The abbey is one of the few original buildings fully open to and used in its purity, restored so philologically unexceptionable. The complex is surrounded by a perfectly pristine nature where there is no visible sign of the passage of time and of human civilization.
Standout Venue Features:
Cooking classes in English with amazing chef Mario Turner. Horse riding lessons. Cheesemaking classes. Ceramics lessons.
Extra Perks:
Unique experience: you can sleep among the four thick walls of a medieval tower! The breathtaking views, beautiful interiors and a strict but comfortable, the privileged position of being the only ones to look at the world from so high up the tower make it a place of great charm. A lounge with kitchenette, two bedrooms with private bathroom, a terrace with 360 degree panorama of unspoiled nature and a lovely pergola at the foot of the tower, with views of the valley reserved for guests of the tower.
