This artist’s loft might boast some incredibly quirky decor, but it certainly does not feel out of place in the hip Canal Saint-Martin area. Tucked away on a quiet block within this arty quarter, the clean, white facade simply cannot prepare you for the interiors. A joyous cacophony of art and design sings out to you from the moment you step inside. With a unique cartoon mural and Keith Haring-style feature walls, feast your eyes on a space that feels nothing like traditional Paris. The light-hearted and colourful decor is contrasted by the classy dining area, and the sophisticated architecture of the mezzanine bedroom floor. As much as you might like to stay in, the local area is also full of vibrant surprises. Ten minutes away on foot, head for dinner and drinks at the Cour des Petites Écuries, a cool area for eating out with local creative types. And just fifteen minutes from home, one of the city’s oldest districts, Le Marais, is the place to go for unique shops, cafés, and cocktails. Of course, some classic sights of Paris are close by. Place de la République is only a five-minute walk and is also home to a metro stop – ideal for exploring further afield.
