Venue Features
The Scene:
The house is conveniently situated at the mid-point of the Esplanade Ridge Historic District - halfway between the French Quarter and City Park, and about one mile from Jackson Square, the heart of old New Orleans. It was constructed c. 1858 for Nicholas Benachi, Consul of Greece at the Port of New Orleans, on the Bayou Road, one of the oldest public ways in the Mississippi Valley.
Design:
A double galleried, boldly symmetrical, Greek Revival, idiosyncratic masterpiece featuring 14 ft. ceilings, Cornelius & Baker fixtures, Belgian granite mantels, Italian marble fireplace surrounds and other original features, In our generous gardens and patios you will find mature live oaks, magnolias and sycamores, gazebos, fountains and a pond - all set among gris des vosges flagstones imported from Alsace.
