Where food, cocktails, retail and an art space meet. A marvelous mouthful if you ask us.
This new concept of a combined restaurant, bar, retail and art space is a wink to the original Drake Hotel. In effect, a Drake without beds; and there are many details that were inspired by the flagship Drake Hotel (also on The Venue Report). Nestled in an early 1980s postmodern office building, you can see midcentury-inspired touches everywhere from the eclectic colors, leathers and finishes of the booths and chairs to the pergola designed by the Brothers Dressler, which hovers over the dining room. Cork ceiling and a 60-foot marble bar and antiques from Brimfield market make this one of the most stylish venues we've come across and one cool cat for a celebration.

Venue Setting

After ten years of hosting guests and travelers from all over the world at our West Queen West HQ, Drake has come to be known as an energetic hub for dining and hospitality as well as visual and performance art. Our first restaurant outpost moves our brand eastward to downtown Toronto’s bustling Financial District and, of course, extends our mandate for all things Drake. Meet Drake One Fifty; a chip off the old block, or simply put, Drake without beds: Food. Drink. Art. Nestled in an early 1980s postmodern building, the space intersects contradictions of high and low, new and old, making it the perfect platform to highlight our food offerings created by Chef Ted Corrado and his team. Expect to find numerous unique dishes created especially for Drake One Fifty, as well as signature items from our original West Queen West kitchen, all paired with an award-winning cocktail program, premium draught beers and a carefully curated wine list. Whether you’re enjoying a power lunch on our street-level patio, getting cozy in a booth before a your downtown show or indulging in late night snacks while watching a live performance at Drake One Fifty, our classic dishes with inventive twists will always make your belly smile. Just as Drake One Fifty’s food program adheres to our style of contemporary-meets-classic, the design of the remodeled space stays true to the instantly recognizable visual Drake identity. Décor fixtures fill the space; highlights include a 60 foot oval marble bar and a Brothers Dressler-designed wooden pergola, a mixture of postmodern leather booths, a curtain wall of warehouse-inspired, steel-framed windows and handmade geometric Moroccan tiles. Each element complements our curated permanent and temporary art collections. Those collections include site specific installations by Olaf Breuning and Souther Salazar, to name a few heralded artists whose work appear in the space. Inspired by modern take on historic brasseries and taverns, the restaurant also features Drake's popular artist-in-residence program, a small performance and DJ space, and multiple projectors showcasing custom video art. On your way out, be sure to visit our micro Drake General Store to take home a curious treasure of your own. Of course, you can also take a snap shot of your visit with our retro photo booth, a sister to our famed West Queen West original. Our first outpost, Drake One Fifty represents a significant moment of growth for a local Queen Street West institution with sincere ambitions to represent its roots proudly wherever it goes next. We can’t wait to host you.

Design:
Internationally renowned designer Martin Brudnizki collaborated extensively with the Drake team on our Drake One Fifty design. Nestled in an early 1980s postmodern office building, you can see midcentury-inspired touches everywhere from the eclectic colours, leathers and finishes of the booths and chairs to the pergola designed by the Brothers Dressler, which hovers over the dining room. From the cork ceiling to a 60-foot marble bar and antiques from Brimfield market, you can spot the playful juxtaposition of high and low design elements throughout our restaurant in downtown Toronto's bustling Financial District. This new concept of a combined restaurant, bar, retail and art space is a wink to the original Drake Hotel. In effect, a Drake without beds; and there are many details that were inspired by the flagship Drake Hotel. The stage hosts live acts and DJs; we consider it the younger sibling to the Drake Underground! You can also get your photo snapped in another vintage photo booth.
