The scene:
The centrepiece of the Lodge is a two-story great house that includes a choice of dining styles both indoor and in the open air. This allows guests to enjoy the best Four Seasons cuisine while fully appreciating Africa’s skies and astonishing sunsets as well as, for the early birds, inspiring sunrises. Meanwhile, the spa complex is easily reached by a traditionally-built elevated wooden walkway that connects it to the great house and guest rooms. Each of the free-standing treatment pavilions are open to sweeping views of the plains giving guests genuine “wellness in the wilderness”.
Design:
The Lodge has been designed both to reflect contemporary African architectural style and to blend into the cherished and respected natural landscape. While still intimate and easily accessible in scale, the Lodge has a total of seventy-seven guest rooms. Twelve of these are suites with plunge pools while five free-standing villas with private pools offer the ultimate in privacy. Each room has an elevated open-air sundeck providing direct views over the Serengeti giving guests a private and intimate connection with the nearby wildlife and inspirational landscape.

It is the first of three Four Seasons\' projects to open in Tanzania, with the future development of a luxury tented safari camp in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and an exclusive beach resort on the island of Zanzibar to follow. • Size and flexibility for groups: As the Serengeti’s best-equipped destination for groups, Four Seasons can host meetings, incentives, conferences and events for up to 80 guests. Buyouts can accommodate up to 140 guests. The facilities include a boardroom, state-of-the-art business centre, private dining options and an outdoor bush event venue. • Gourmet in the bush: Providing remarkable variety in the wilderness, Four Seasons offers several dining venues, including an all-day restaurant with buffet, an all-day lounge overlooking the pool, and a specialty grill for dinners. Menus showcase locally sourced African flavours, while also catering to international tastes. Indoor and outdoor seating provides a constant panorama of the landscape and wildlife. For groups, private dining facilities are available.

- Up close and intimate with the wildlife: Four Seasons offers a prime viewing base in the Central Serengeti, home to the most consistent game viewing in the Mara / Serengeti eco system. The two active watering holes on the property allow for magnificent animal viewing at peak times of day. The Lodge has recently installed a night vision camera on the main watering hole connected to the Lodge TV system, so guests can even watch the animals (such as a huge herd of buffalo that has been visiting the watering hole every night) from their own room. - Engaging local activities: Not just a home base for game drives, Four Seasons delivers other memorable ways to experience the Serengeti. Guests can get to know the local Maasai people and become involved in social responsibility programmes, such as helping local schools and supporting wildlife conservation. - Welcoming for extended families: The Safari Lodge is designed with a versatility that is ideal for all kinds of travellers. With its family-friendly reputation, Four Seasons welcomes children of eight years and over with special amenities, menus and fun activities for kids and teens at the Kijana Klub. For grandparents and active older adults, the Lodge is just as comfortable, thanks to smooth walkways and a range of accessible and less-demanding Serengeti experiences. -Resort-style recreation: The focal point of the Safari Lodge is the outdoor infinity pool that overlooks the active watering hole – letting you float in the pool while watching elephants gather for a drink. Other amenities include a well-equipped fitness centre, a games room with billiards table and a Discovery Centre with a variety of educational resources to introduce Africa and the Serengeti. - Spa rejuvenation: After long days of air travel and hot, dusty game drives, the Spa helps restore and rehydrate with massage and skin care, utilising indigenous plants and minerals. Each of the six free-standing treatment pavilions are large enough for couples and are open to sweeping views of the plains. Some include outdoor bathtubs while the changing rooms feature steam showers. In-room treatments are also offered.

-Kulas: (“To Eat” in KiSwahili) Main Restaurant (Seats 100) Providing panoramic views over the Serengeti, this elegant restaurant represents contemporary Africa and serves buffet meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner featuring International and African cuisine from Indian to Moroccan and Cape Malay -Maji Bar – (“Water” in KiSwahili) All Day Dining (Seats 120) The pool-side bar offers an a la carte food menu that includes a selection of sandwiches, salads, pizzas and other International specialties with a local twist. -Boma Grill – Speciality Restaurant (Seats 35 − 40) Taking its inspiration from a traditional Maasai boma where elders and warriors would meet inside a thorn bush stockade to feast on special occasions, the Boma Grill is our a la carte “specialty” African restaurant showcasing the best African meats and vegetables. It specialises in authentic African grilled dishes with local ingredients including steak from Kenya, shellfish and fresh line fish from Dar Es Salaam and spices from Zanzibar. The entertainment schedule creates an authentic African vibe as traditional Maasai dancers regularly perform for guests. -Wine Cellar (Seats 12) With a contemporary feel, the wine cellar creates food and wine pairing menus and gives guests the opportunity to sample wines from across the African continent, particularly South Africa.
-Maji Bar This sophisticated yet comfortable bar and lounge is the prime destination for a pre-dinner drink whilst enjoying the famous Serengeti sunset. Its casual service style means that guests can have fun mixing their own drinks or enjoy a full service bar and an array of canapés.
