Inside Scoop

Our bar team make a delicious Japanese whisky sour with yuzu — ask for the Suntory Sour, a wonderful cool palette cleanser. Table 202 has the best view of both the restaurant and the square, great for 2-3 people seated, or perch up at the front bar leaner and look out to the harbour.

Venue Features
The scene:
Anchored by a bright, open kitchen that encourages casual dining at its generous bar, Hello Beasty opens its fresh, light interior onto Auckland Viaduct’s Market Square with unique details including a contemporary ‘sakura’ lighting installation by Angus Muir, and ‘Beasty’ cat motifs rendered in neon and a pop art mural on the walls.

“Our mission is to surprise and delight through experience,” says Emma Rogan, responsible for the restaurant’s creative vision, branding and design. “Hello Beasty is cheeky, fast-paced and fun, but we take our food and our cocktails seriously. We want to do hospitality better, warmer and with more heart. Opening up the kitchen and letting the diners be part of the experience is key to our relaxed, unfussy approach.”
Design:
Framed by an open-air, sheltered bar and courtyard dining, Hello Beasty flows inside to the large, brightly lit, open kitchen and dining space. Illuminated by a giant pink neon 'Beasty cat' the dining space is intimate, with velvet-lined booths, seated dining, and high leaners. A feature of the dining space are the large coloured 'flower' lights that hang overhead, suspended from an illuminated void in the ceiling.
