Food Restaurants, Cafes, Bars, Lounges
This section provides insights into our diverse culinary and social offerings.
At ION’s Silfra Restaurant we subscribe to this philosophy and offer a menu of fresh local ingredients served with a twist and accompanied by an array of beers, liqueurs and spirits from Iceland’s many microbreweries. Silfra restaurant embodies the local flavor and spirit of Iceland, offering seasonal and contemporary dishes with an emphasis on sustainable, farm-fresh ingredients from our close surroundings. Silfra is proud to serve modern nordic cuisine with purity, freshness, simplicity and ethics as a guiding light to represent everything that this part of the world has to offer above other. The chefs at Silfra also emphasize in what is called “slow food” that can be simplified as food made from the freshest ingredients available that is originated in the neighborhood of the hotel. The restaurant’s name derives from the Silfra rift in Lake Þingvellir. The rift is the most popular diving site in Iceland, first of all because it the crack between the American and Eurasian continent and secondly because of the magnificent visibility that isn’t anywhere else under those circumstances. The kitchen is lead by our chefs Hrafnkell Sigríðarson and Sigurður Laufdal.
The Northern lights bar is a unique place to experience the night sky. The double height windows and the comfortable lounge area gives you the perfect spot to experience the views over the dramatic landscapes and the night sky. The Northern lights bar offers magnificent panoramic views of Lake Thingvellir and the Northern lights in the winter.

25 Eco-Woke Hotels, Restaurants & Cities Around the World
Tom Robbins said it best when he wrote; “I've sucked way too much cement for this year. Bad juju rising off them city sidewalks. I need to babble with a brook or two, inhale starlight, make friends with some trees.” Most days, we couldn’t agree more, but Earth Day makes that desire even more palpable. What to do? Explore, of course. We must get outdoors and soak up the feeling of dirt between our toes. Here are a few of our favorite spots around the world that are eco-woke. Birthday Bucket List of the Week: Float on the In-Between in the Land of Fire and Ice
We've all been told opposites attract. By some pretty important people, in fact.  Newton’s third law tells us - every action has an equal and opposite reaction.  Shakespeare dictates “we are consumed by that which nourishes us.” Maybe you’ve personally felt that sweetness can never be as sweet without having tasted the charred remains of the bitter. Can love ever be as all-consuming without first knowing heartbreak? Yet somewhere within the juxtaposition of extremes can we rest within a happy medium. Which is what’s happening here, in our #BirthdayBucketList of the week as we luxuriate in the “land of fire and ice” that is Iceland.
