Lonesome Valley has been a natural work in progress for millions of years. The granite faces of its high cliffs have been polished by glaciers, sculpted by wind and rain, and burnished by the sun creating the largest box canyon east of the Mississippi River. Streams run gently through the meadow that encircles the venue. The land that is now Lonesome Valley was purchased by E.H. Jennings in 1895 and has remained in the Jennings family for four generations. Today, Lonesome Valley is a private, 800-acre gated community in Cashiers, N.C.
The natural beauty of the breathtaking locale is complemented by the detailed craftsmanship of the Jennings Barn’s traditional post and beam architecture. With large indoor and outdoor, stacked, stone fireplaces; massive exposed ceiling beams; unique rope basket light fixtures; and multiple barn doors that line the walls and can be opened to create a pavilion-style atmosphere, Jennings Barn can be dressed up or down depending on the desired look.
Standout Venue Features:
When hosting a private event at Lonesome Valley, guests will enjoy exceptional cuisine customized for their event by James Beard finalist chef John Fleer. John and his culinary staff use fresh produce and organic selections from the community garden and the surrounding area of western North Carolina to create extraordinary farm-to-table menus for private events.
The site fee includes use of the Jennings Barn for the entire day of your event (no 4 hour blocks here!) as well as all of our wood and zinc topped tables, leather and wicker chairs and lounge furniture. Depending on scope and size, use of our Fortessa plates, forks and knives may be included as well.
