Inside Scoop

You're walking on maple floors that have been walked on since 1848. Our kitchen was once haunted by a mill worker ghost named Myrtle. Ask Beth the bartender to tell you the story.

Venue Features
The scene:
They don't make 'em like this anymore. Our historic paper mill was built in 1848 and has been restored to a warm, stunning event venue nestled inside an urban exterior. The refurbished original maple floors, exposed ceiling beams and sandblasted brick walls showcase the amazing workmanship that went into creating Mill 1. An elegant bar made of recycled cyprus wood and white corian greets you at the entrance. Large windows flood the space with natural light during the day and subtle lighting adds a modern dimension at night.
Design:
Mill 1 is one super green venue. Our zero net energy venue produces all it's electricity using a renewable resource-the water in the canals Holyoke was built around. So every event here has no carbon footprint. And our bar is custom designed and uses cypress wood recycled from 19th century water tank in the tower of the building. Spiral duct work adds a chic industrial edge while quietly heating and cooling the space for you and your guests. And those floors.
Standout venue features:
We hate to think about troubling things, but believe that when people gather, they should gather safely. That's why we have an AED on site and our staff is AED & CPR certified.
Extra perks:
You can choose to drape market lights over the dance floor or wind twinkle lights around the white columns. Mill 1 provides linens in the venure rental agreement, within certain colors. A choice of white garden chairs, and rustic crossback chairs. You can choose to use our two modern farm tables. As well has a white shear permanent curtain backdrop. Mill 1 Event space also includes in house room decorations.
