UXUA, which currently has 17 suites distributed among 12 houses totally unique in architecture in decoration, providing space and privacy of a private home complemented by hotel services, spa facilities, fitness center, beach lounge, restaurant, pool quartz and library with the typical hospitality of the region. ​ The hotel accommodates up to 34 people, you can still accommodate an extra bed in some of our houses.

Being in the car-free center of picturesque Trancoso, all guests enjoy total independence with shops, restaurants, galleries, and of course the beach, all just steps away and available any time. At the same time the hotel environment is totally private and exclusive to hotel guests, so a casual, intimate atmosphere reigns within UXUA’s lush property in which members of groups can enjoy each other’s company and grow friendships - and the coordinating of group activities is amazingly simple. Design:
UXUA’s design recalls Trancoso’s 500-years of history. Portuguese adventurers, Jesuit missionaries, Indian tribes, African slaves, and even Brazilian hippies have influenced in some way the architecture, art, and antiques that make each UXUA a unique expression. The casas range from authentically restored fisherman houses facing the town’s 16th century Quadrado, to a sleekly opulent but ecologically-conscious treehouse and other distinct homes hidden around a lush garden. Featured in design magazines worldwide, the innovative aesthetic has been labeled ‘rustic modernism’, a simple tropical fusion of indoor / outdoor space capturing the appeal of the southern Bahian lifestyle.

UXUA QUADRADO UXUA’s culinary approach is simple but very, very authentic, continuously searching for the harmony between the roots of the Bahian culinary history and the innovation of the modern international cuisine. Just like with the hotel, made with local techniques and artisans, the local influence on UXUA cuisine is notable. We truly emphasize 'localism' as we do in all of the UXUA project since the beginning. Ingredients emphasize local seafood and organic produce, various kinds of spices, fresh baked goods, local cacao, coconut, and tropical fruits for drinks and the famed UXUA ice cream. UXUA PRAIA The menu is filled with a sophisticated version of the typical bahian food, while our guests enjoy the pleasant atmosphere, only hearing the best of Brazilian music and world music as well, and also enjoying the natural sound of the ocean. Number 7 on World’s 50 best beach bars – CNN The menu is filled with a sophisticated version of the typical bahian food, while our guests enjoy the pleasant atmosphere, only hearing the best of Brazilian music and world music as well, and also enjoying the natural sound of the ocean. “Stunningly located beach bar, which is close to both the town and the seafront” (Mr & Ms Smith) UXUA JARDIM With a cushion-filled raised mezzanine, sofas that are lined with recycled canvas, a hand-carved hardwood bar and an exquisite table 3 meters long which lays on top of a cashew tree trunk. The walls are made out of pau a pique, which is a natural construction method that are built by native tribes such as Pataxo, from the south of Bahia, that also contributed to the lamps and decoration for this space. Tamara’s text suggestion to complement as I think it’s missing a second paragraph about the menu: Our menu is inspired on the pride in Bahian cooking that is so strong and vivid among the people of Trancoso. There's few regional cuisines in the world with such complex historical roots, with African slaves and Portuguese colonial traditions fused with Native American influences.

Small (35-seat) boutique restaurant facing charming Trancoso’s historic Quadrado. The restaurant, simply named UXUA QUADRADO, is located among one of the historic fishermen’s houses that surround the famous square, the famed Casa Frozina, once home of Trancoso’s oldest resident, the much-loved Dona Frozina
View: With its stunning, stylishly-relaxed atmosphere by day or night, spectacular view of the Quadrado, and the simple white Igreja de Sao Joao Batista (Saint John’s Church), the second-oldest church in Brazil.

UXUA is defined by authenticity, and our beach lounge is its pure expression. We restored an old fisherman bar, and serve still from an antique wooden boat topped by a canvas roof. Low impact, sustainable, and delightful. Bahian cuisine and innovative tropical cocktails, all UXUA standards.
