For those who haven’t heard about it, Engage! is a traveling event that brings together the wedding industry’s most creative minds in gorgeous settings around the world. Think of it as TedTalks but for people whose businesses depend on them knowing the ins and outs of the luxury market. Magazine editors, bloggers, planners, designers, and photographers from around the world gathered in Puglia, Italy for this year’s Engage!16 to discuss entrepreneurship, design, and more. And of course, they did it in total style, with a series of beautiful, thoughtful, and fun events hosted over three days’ time.

Brought on board as the official Engage!16 photographer, Betsi Ewing captured the stunning setting and the key events of the conference. Here’s the scoop straight from Betsi herself.

When winter finally gets around to easing up, everyone wants a solid way to transition into warmer seasons. All us adventurers and romantics want is simply a cozy party with friends, possibly outdoors (and a good drink). That’s where the Tequila vs. Mezcal Party comes in like a saving grace.

Such a celebration of agave is well overdue, and it took Layered Vintage partnering up with The Gold Leaf Project to make it happen. The festivities took place in San Diego and the Venue Report was lucky enough to attend. We had an absolute blast and wanted a few more details on how it all came to be. So we scooped an interview with Jill of Layered Vintage and Aly who coordinated the whole thing.

One of our favorite things about the start of a new year is setting goals like jump-starting a wellness-oriented year, or planning to travel to at least three cities we haven’t been to yet. This year, we are all about our goal of trying new things in the kitchen and beyond. We’ve turned to photographer, stylist, blogger, and recipe guru, Beth Kirby of Local Milk looking for her best post-holiday-binge-soup for cleansing, nourishing, and clearing the ole sinuses. 

Beth’s Spicy Soba and Miso Soup is a detox must for all your post-holiday blues. If you haven’t been following her Instagram account and blog, we highly recommend taking a look at her gorgeous imagery and lovely recipes. Here she’s given us the 101 on all things Soba and she even tells us how to prepare the elusive “perfect” boiled egg to throw on top. We’ll let Beth take it from here.

Looking for the perfect cocktails to whip up this New Years? You are in luck! Recently, for our Gypsy Jungle Disco Holiday Party we partnered with the one and only Barçon Cocktail Co.  on the drink portion of the evening and oh boy oh boy did they deliver! However, we were'nt surprised as Barçon prides themselves in offering the finest quality libations with the service to match. For those of you who don't know, Barçon is a unique marriage between Sycamore Den, a rustic dive bar that instantly teleports you back to the 1970's and A MIHO Experience, a catering service that provides farm to table cuisine and bursts of flavor in every bite. 

We ventured to Sycamore Den in Downtown San Diego to get the inside scoop from Eric, one of Barçon's talented mixologists. You didn't think we would keep these delicious concoctions to ourself did you? Not a chance. We've willingly test drove three must try cocktail recipes and there's simply no other way to put it... For the best New Year's party ever, make sure you have one of these drinks in your hand. 





1oz of Light Rum
1oz of Dark Rum
.75oz of Orange Juice
.75oz of Lime Juice
.5oz of Cinnamon Vanilla Simple Syrup
Garnish with a Cinnamon Stick and a Cube of Dry Ice for the smoking effect
