Sabi Sand Game Reserve, Sabie Park, Mpumalanga, South Africa

All in favor of adding an African safari to your birthday celebration bucket list, raise a hand! We couldn’t agree with you more, especially upon seeing this stunning resort in South Africa and learning about the amazing things they do to save the animals and preserve the beautiful land they so respect. Singita Castleton is a Mecca for animal and nature lovers as much as it is for those who love a luxurious getaway. An impeccably designed resort, this is one of those spots that’ll have you wondering why you don’t celebrate your birthday with a major adventure every year.

RT Lodge

1406 Wilkinson Pike, Maryville, Tennessee

Beautifully hidden away in a forest on an historic college campus, RT Lodge makes you feel like you’re staying at an upper class friend’s vacation home. There are acoustic guitars to play around the fire, where you’ll also find a s’mores station. There’s badminton, corn hole, croquet, and volleyball to be played. It’s basically your own personal estate while you’re there.

So it’s no wonder that dozens of wedding professionals descended upon this secluded sanctuary in Maryville, Tennessee. It was quite the picturesque event to behold. We simply had to know more, so we chatted with Katherine Stinnett, RT Lodge’s Group Sales and Marketing Manager.

Alyssa Brown
by Alyssa Brown

We’ve all heard about ice hotels and decked out glamping igloos, but this winter we’ve got our birthday bucket list goals set on the world’s first ice hotel to be open year-round. What’s more birthday worthy than heading to Sweden to chase the Northern Lights, sleep in an igloo filled with ice sculptures, and sip on one of thousands of icy cocktails at the Icehotel 365?!

This gorgeous, icy enclave of luxury igloo suites set in a small Swedish village emphasizes art, architecture, snow sports, and the joys of getting far outside your (typically warm) comfort zone. So go ahead and add some winter furs and puffy coats to your birthday wishlist, because it’s about to drop below zero.
