The reason we leave home in the first place is to simplify. We escape routine to focus on our surroundings, our hobbies, our hopes, our desires, and our sanity. Yet while tent camping provides you with your needs and resort life blesses you with your wants, tiny living offers the true balance. It’s cozy comfort that’s as simple as it is stylish, and your Getaway House of choice awaits you in a secret forest location outside New York and Boston.

Tiny Home Away From Home

This week’s #BirthdayBucketList is the embodiment of the “less is more” philosophy. Getaway House enables you to feel what it's like to move away from materialism without altogether abandoning it. Such a lifestyle would mean financial security, self-sufficiency, being friendlier to the environment, and, of course, lots of adventure.

If you’re like us as soon as March 1st hits, you’re updating your spring wardrobe with pastels and pops of neon – investing in your newest pair of festival lace up sandals, a bikini (or two), arranging pretty blooms allll over your house, dusting off that bicycle and planning beach getaways with your bests. With spring always comes a beautiful reinvention, the shedding of winter coats & heavy fabrics for gauzy prints and caftans, trading comfort food for juicy and colorful fresh fruits and vegetables now in season. Indoor takeout (we’ll never give up Netflix & chill no matter the season) for outdoor farmer’s markets and best of all, welcoming that that big ol’ dose of Vitamin D we’ve all been craving so desperately!

ICEHOTEL number 26 opened it's frozen doors two weeks ago! ICEHOTEL is the world’s first hotel made of ice and snow and is reborn each year in the village of Jukkasjärvi, just north of the Arctic Circle. The spectacular frozen monolith is made entirely of ice from the free-flowing river Torne, and is open from mid-December to mid-April every year. This #BirthdayBucketList of the week is devoted to this spectacularly sparkling experience.

Each year the rooms are completely different as new artisans come to the area to carve art sculptures out of the ice. The artists vary from year to year, so that each rendition of the hotel is unique every season that it reopens. Not only is this #BirthdayBucketList devoted to sleeping in this temporary hotel, but it also serves as the setting where you can host the COOLEST (pun intended) birthday dinner party on the planet.

The Venue Report was started by travelers and adventurers who embrace the opportunity to glimpse into other communities and locales around the world. Traveling has exposed us to the smallest of villages and the largest of cities, making us acutely aware of what the word community means, as we’ve seen the beauty of gathering in so many different settings. So, when a natural disaster hits any community on a mass scale, it’s not only impossible to ignore the implications but it’s heart wrenching to watch the imagery flood our news feeds as small villages crumple to dust.
