What’s black, white and grey all over? Nope, this is not a newspaper riddle. Instead, it’s just about the best way to describe the décor of this chic, minimalist hotel in Singapore. The monochromatic color scheme creates a bold design statement, with each room leaving you feeling both tranquil and inspired. When it comes to places we’d like to wake up on our next birthday, Hotel Mono totally fits the bill.

Rooms of All Sizes

A collection of six historical shop houses, the beautifully restored Roccoco era building offers a total of 46 guest rooms. In truly accommodating fashion, the rooms range from single units to doubles to studios to family rooms. If you’re planning to spend your #bucketlistbirthday traveling with a friend or two, the family rooms are awesome for sharing and you’ll have plenty of space to sprawl out with all your travel guides, maps and fabulous outfits.

How Mono

Completely lacking in color, this is the kind of place where you can go and feel completely zen. Don’t be fooled by thinking we mean it’s dull though, as the monochromatic theme makes each design element stand out in its own right. From where we stand, this spot is about as Instagram backdrop worthy as it gets, making your next bday getaway look really good in snaps.

Chinatown Location

Set in the heart of Chinatown, Hotel Mono is located on Mosque Street and surrounded by great culinary experiences and cultural charms. For the art enthusiast, the National Gallery boasts the world’s largest display of modern southeast Asian art and there’s always a great show or exhibition to catch. The nearby Gardens by the Bay are a real spectacle to behold – certainly birthday bucket list worthy – with their massive sculptural installations and walkable skyway. For the culinary traveler, Chinatown Food Street sits just nearby and is a food mecca that alone is worth the trek.
