The 1121 square foot 21c Suite, a one bedroom suite occupying the entire 15th floor, features custom designed furniture, an expansive private terrace with a soaking tub, en suite bathroom with standing shower and double vanity sinks, powder room and wet bar with views of downtown Durham. 18 suites total including Deluxe Suites, Luxury Suites and 2 Terrace Suites.

Design:

21c Museum Hotel Durham is housed in the Hill Building, located in the Downtown Durham Historic District. The 17-story building was designed by New York-based architects Shreve, Lamb and Harmon, famous for the Empire State Building, in association with Durham architect George Watts Carr. The 21c design team led by New York-based architects Deborah Berke Partners, has embraced the building’s original features to create a space where contemporary design and historic details meet and contrast. Many of the building’s historic features have been preserved including the Art Deco-inspired elevator lobby with marble walls, terrazzo flooring and silver leaf vaulted ceiling; the historic banking hall with its soaring windows, original wood paneling and terrazzo floors and the vault and safety deposit boxes on the lower level. The 125 guest rooms and suites at 21c Durham are spacious with high celings, contemporary custom furnishings and large windows. Guest room design is modern, yet rooted in context and history: Art Deco windows and steel accents are married with a simple materials palette in grey tones and copper details.

21c Durham offers a number of unique add-ons including craft cocktail classes, pampering massages, art tours and yoga in the exhibition spaces. Custom welcome gifts can be arranged for your guests through the 21c Museum Shop. No reason to rush through your wedding photos – your guests will be occupied exploring the art-filled museum galleries, open to the public free of charge 365 days a year. Room blocks are available for out-of-town guests, with special rates avialable for groups of 10 or more.

Positioned in a central area with offshoots to Galleries Four through Seven, Gallery Three is the perfect homebase for events and includes a built-in projector on lift and motorized screen. Natural light filters in through glass sidelights from the other galleries.

Counting House is a modern restaurant helmed by Executive Chef Josh Munchel. A showcase for high-quality seasonal ingredients, Counting House presents a global perspective on regional dishes and celebrates North Carolina’s rich heritage of fresh seafood with menus that feature rotisserie and roasting techniques. The bar and lounge is a welcoming place to taste innovative house-made cocktails, sip aperitifs, sample local craft brews, and explore broad bourbon and wine lists. Located inside 21c Museum Hotel Durham, Counting House combines contemporary design with historic details highlighting the building’s original terrazzo floors and arched windows and rotating exhibitions of contemporary art carry over from the adjoining hotel into the restaurant space. 

Bars & Lounges:
The Vault, located in 21c Durham's historic underground bank vault, is the perfect place for an intimate cocktail party with friends or a private romantic celebration.
