Houses-on-stilts overlook the Caribbean Sea from Tulum’s beautiful beaches, double-decker treehouses tower in the jungle of a Thai eco-resort, and four new treehouses are soon to be unveiled in Charleston. Suffice it to say, these treehouses are well beyond the scope of what your childhood imagination may have pictured for your own backyard, but we’re sure you’ll still be overwhelmingly pleased by these cozy stays. There’s an olive grove in Tuscany with treehouses, a Lithuanian forest getaway and so much more in this year’s edition of treehouses we can’t get enough of.

Sparkly, bright and.... dead, or rather dried. Dried florals were the star of the the show for this styled wedding and transformed the day into a tropical-meets-desert event, complete with a mariachi band dressed in all white. Using Acre Baja's stunning tiled mango orchard as the main setting for this bohemian bash, the overall tone was lightened-up and airy. Bright whites, natural materials and neutral colors added to the dramatic, monotone look. The dried floral installations added an element of texture and interest, proving that this is the next big wedding trend.
We caught up with photographer, Nicola Dixon and designer, Laura of Fawn Events about the entire day including their top tips for making the most of events (and getaways) and Acre Hotel in Mexico.

It's not every day that your baby turns one, so why not celebrate their first full year of life with a bang? That's exactly what the team at boutique hotel, Acre Baja did for their resident donkey and beloved fur baby, Burrito. The sweet donkey found his way to Acre Baja by way of an emergency rescue when he was orphaned at just one month old – the team immediately took him in and knew he had found his forever home. Acre Baja is also home to a local dog rescue and shelter, Acre Dogs that you can adopt from onsite during your stay or event. Baby Burrito grew up with the rescued dogs and puppies, thinking he was part of the pack for awhile.
Burrito's birthday party was everything a first birthday should be: full of his favorite foods (carrots and apples), his family and a special, Donkey approved cake. We caught up with Romana Lilic from Acre about Burrito's party, his story and hosting events at this jungle paradise.

Tom Robbins said it best when he wrote; “I've sucked way too much cement for this year. Bad juju rising off them city sidewalks. I need to babble with a brook or two, inhale starlight, make friends with some trees.” Most days, we couldn’t agree more, but Earth Day makes that desire even more palpable.
What to do? Explore, of course. We must get outdoors and soak up the feeling of dirt between our toes. Here are a few of our favorite spots around the world that are eco-woke. From hotels made with sustainable building practices to restaurants serving hyper-local foods to cities that are setting a new standard in what it means to go green, we’ve got the Earth on our inquisitive minds.
