Venue Setting

Brooklyn Historical Society is a national historic landmark located in brownstone Brooklyn Heightsk, within walking distance from several subway stations and the Brooklyn Promenade. Built in 1881 by George Post, our venue offers 2 unique main event spaces, as well as the option to reserve both spaces for your event. The newly renovated Great Hall auditorium event space on the first floor features soaring wood ceilings, regal columns and a state of the art sound system.

Upstairs, the rare, interior landmarked Othmer Library is a breathtaking space ideal for wedding ceremonies, cocktail receptions and photo shoots. Featuring original handcarved black ash columns, high ceilings and stained glass lunette windows, the Library will impress all your guests.

In addition to these 2 main event spaces, BHS offers additional spaces for private events, including our state of the art classroom, 2nd floor parlor and a small outdoor patio to be combined with the other spaces. Your guests will enjoy the private museum experience viewing the Library, exhibits and collections after hours.
