Inside Scoop

In the Winter and Spring we host "Graze at Camp Hammond", a compliment to our "Graze at Pineland Farms" during the summer months.  An evening at Graze at Camp Hammond begins at 6pm with local live acoustic music played during cocktail hour by The Gather Rounders, with a cash bar offered, as well as tasting pours from the featured brewer and passed hors douvres. Cocktail hour is followed by a five course amuse bouche style dinner. Each course is paired with a local brewer in our beautiful restored historic venue in Yarmouth.

Venue Features
The Scene:
Originally landscaped by Frederick Law Olmstead, the designer of New York City's Central Park, the large cottage-style period home is decorated in quintessential Maine style and decor. The two-story reception hall with suspended balcony represents the finest of 19th century privileged living. It is a breathtaking crowd pleaser!  This Victorian home, located in the small seaside town of Yarmouth, Maine, just a few miles from Portland, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Design:
Camp Hammond is located off the north side of Main Street (Maine State Route 115) in Yarmouth's town center, between the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Rowe School. It is a large 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a gambrel roof, shingled exterior, and fieldstone foundation. The roof has three shed-roof dormers, each with differing window shapes and configurations. The main facade, facing roughly south, is divided into three sections. The rightmost section is a rounded bay, with three large sash windows on the first level and two smaller ones on the second. The central section houses the main entrance, flanked by fixed multipane windows, and a three-part window on the second level. The left section houses a tall three-part window on the first floor, and two pairs of windows (mirror-image narrow and wide sash) on the second floor. A porch extends across the left two sections, with a balustrade above.
Standout Venue Features:
Camp Hammond is a beautiful and unique venue located in the quaint town of Yarmouth!   The long front lawn is groomed with a private gazbo and tent for outdoor events.  The front porch is large and stately with a grand entrance into the large reception hall with suspended balcony.  Dark wood, a stone fireplace and private sitting areas bring a charm reminiscent of ages past.
Extra Perks:
The facility fee includes exclusive use of the venue including the interior of the home and the exterior tented patio as well as china, flatware and glassware. Tables and chairs for the interior of the house are included in that fee but need to be rented for outside under the tent.
Awards & NotablesCamp Hammond is an historic house at 74 Main Street in Yarmouth, Maine. Built in 1889, this large Shingle style is notable for its method of construction, which used techniques more typically applied to industrial mill construction in a residential setting to minimize the spread of fire. George Hammond, the builder, was owner of the nearby Forest Paper Company. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

We have been hosting weddings and events at Camp Hammond since 1980's.
