Venue Setting

In the early 1970s, Willard and Dorothy Beanland ventured north to Solvang from Los Angeles. They settled and built their retirement ranch called Goldie Acres. The reason for the name was that they bred, raised and trained Tennessee Walker Palomino horses. Yes, only Palominos here! The Beanlands’ passion for their horses had them riding them in the Pasadena Rose Parade for 34 years in a row. In addition to the Rose Parade, they rode in countless other parades displaying the incredible silver saddles they designed specifically for their Palominos. They were a fixture in parade riding community. Willard passed at the age of 82, leaving Dorothy the task of caring for the horses until she could no longer ride. Dorothy passed away in the late 1990s and the one remaining Palomino on the ranch, Tequila, was given to a gal that rode with the Ladies Mounted Sheriffs, and they continue to ride in local parades today.

The Scene:
As the Beanlands aged, the ranch became tired and worn from the 30 years of their Palomino passion and ranch dream. The property was sold to only the second owner in 35 years — a real cowboy — who has attempted to keep the traditional feel of the ranch but has modernized the home, its surrounding barns, arenas, pastures, and landscaping. The traditional California board and batten home has been remodeled, adding all modern amenities including a pool, pool house, outdoor pizza oven, landscape and outdoor lighting and custom landscaping. Restored and updated with luxurious Western Theme Décor, natural stone and hard wood floors throughout. With all of these changes, the name change to “Circle L Ranch” was appropriate. Come and join us for a stay and enjoy the feel of the Old West. You may even spot a Palomino horse in one of the pastures.
