Venue Setting

The Fairlane, a luxe 81-room boutique hotel, opened in downtown Nashville’s Arts District. Driven by the clean simplicity of mid-century architectural design, the Fairlane Hotel is bringing the style and personality of the 1960’s and 70’s back to Music City. A vibrant setting is complemented by classic food and beverage with Ellington’s Mid Way Bar & Grill, Mile End Delicatessen and Union Teller Coffee Counter, establishing the Fairlane Hotel as downtown Nashville’s go-to destination.

The Fairlane Hotel was inspired by the preeminent international style of the building’s original interior and exterior architecture as the Nashville headquarters of the now-defunct Fidelity Federal Savings & Loan. Terrazzo flooring, original wood paneling and travertine columns, brass elements, interior plants, open floor plans, and a green, brown and crème color palette are timelessly presented with a modern take on the prominent style of the 1960’s and 70’s.

At the Fairlane Hotel, guests will find some of the city’s largest standard size guestrooms, all complete with era-appropriate details. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide expansive exterior views of the surrounding cityscape, and semi-transparent peekaboo showers crafted from custom walnut paneling add a dramatic visual element to guestroom interiors.

A destination in itself, the 4,000-square foot Penthouse will be Nashville’s premier private events space. Reminiscent of a 70’s crash pad, the smoked mirrored ceilings are playfully suggestive, while those looking for discretion may take a private elevator. A wraparound terrace provides an outdoor escape, with a dedicated dining area and communal soft seating boasting unparalleled views. For guests who need to get down to business, two dedicated meeting spaces are available - the Business Room and Big Business Room.

The Fairlane Hotel’s buzzing lobby is anchored by Union Teller Coffee Counter, where guests and locals alike can start their day with freshly-brewed Stumptown coffee and light bites, and Mile End Delicatessen, a Montreal-style (by way of Brooklyn) delicatessen and bar. The Delicatessen features many of the items made famous at Mile End’s popular NYC-based outposts, specializing in traditional cured and smoked Jewish Deli meats and house-baked bagels and breads, along with new offerings exclusively available at the Fairlane Hotel.

Ellington’s Mid Way Bar and Grill, the fourth-floor terrace restaurant, is the prime location for those in the know to enjoy leisurely lunches, happy hours and casual dinners. Guests are invited to sit indoors or grab a seat by a fire pit on the wraparound terrace while enjoying classic American fare, a cold martini and service that will make anyone feel like a regular.

Every day at 5:00 p.m., professional virtue is interrupted by some damn-good vice with the Fairlane at Five to end the workday. The resident ‘Governor’ circulates the lobby with a vintage bar cart serving local spirits and bottled Coca-Cola, all to the tune of whatever soundtrack suits the mood, creating energy and connecting guests.

Guests can enhance their stay experience with one of several add-on packages, including a romantic getaway package providing a Polaroid camera to capture those little (or big) moments, a hot chicken tour package stopping at Nashville’s best hot chicken spots, and a chance to experience Nashville’s version of the Mile High Club during a Penthouse party complete with private in-room band or DJ, security detail and 3:00 a.m. “breakfast” delivery.

Located off Broadway between Union and Church Streets in the Capitol and Arts District, the Fairlane Hotel is centrally situated near many notable Nashville attractions, including Ryman Auditorium, Riverfront Park, Schermerhorn Symphony Center and Bridgestone Arena.

Design:
Prior to the introduction of the Fairlane Hotel, the Nashville hotel scene was polarized into two hospitality segments: corporate hotels and charming bed and breakfasts. Oliver Hospitality, the team behind the Fairlane Hotel, recognized the importance of providing an accommodation option that appealed to leisure and business travelers as well as locals, through personalized service and a chic, sophisticated yet comfortable design. The main design priority was maintaining the integrity of the original bank building and creating an interior design that matched the masculine quality of the building’s exterior structure.

The design of the expansive, buzzing lobby exudes high drama – a brass screen element juxtaposed with natural planters establishes a setting that is strong and powerful, yet inviting. Terrazzo flooring is offset by wood paneling mixed with a color palette of soft green, brown and crème hues, and generous seating options appeal to all experiences.

Unique finishes augment the Fairlane Hotel guestroom experience, including semi-transparent, peekaboo showers with wood paneling sourced from Nicaragua that offer a flirty, playful touch to the bathroom space. At first glance, the bed headboards appear to be simply designed with upholstered velvet fabric and vertical channeling, however, the secret compartment in the center can be pulled down, serving as an armrest or workspace, complete with cup holders. Drapes and fabrics were purposely selected to add feminine touches to the otherwise masculine guestrooms.

Reflecting the design of an upscale-retro residential apartment, the Penthouse provides a comfortable, sexy and retro vibe that resembles a 1960s or 70s crash pad. Playfulness is enhanced in the Penthouse West bedroom with the inclusion of smoked mirrored ceilings. The round fireplace surrounded by inviting ottomans creates an indoor social space while the wraparound terrace provides an outdoor escape.
