Venue Setting

Huka Lodge was founded in the 1920's by a charming Irishman, Alan Pye. He quickly established an unrivalled reputation for superb hospitality and trophy-size trout both of which still draw guests to Huka Lodge, Taupo, New Zealand, to this very day. Over the years the Lodge has evolved into an iconic New Zealand property that has been consistently chosen as one of the top retreats in the world and is sought as an exclusive destination for the most discerning travellers.

Guests include members of European royal families, Hollywood stars and celebrities, Heads of State and Government and famous authors. Huka Lodge has won many prestigious travel awards for over 30 years and these have created a reputation, at the highest level, for this magnificent property.

At Huka Lodge the entire property provides rich opportunity for a truly unique wedding celebration and offers a fabulous backdrop for stunning photography.

That very first glimpse of the deep turquoise green waters of the Waikato River brings further affirmation of the potential that awaits.

The garden at Huka Lodge is ranked as a 'Garden of National Significance' and deemed to be of regional importance by the New Zealand Gardens Trust.

Offering accommodation within 18 Junior Lodge Suites, one Lodge Suite, the four-bedroom Owner’s Cottage and the two-bedroom Alan Pye Cottage – guests luxuriate in an exclusive hospitality experience.

The Owner’s Cottage offers the ultimate in Huka Lodge hospitality. Perfect for a house party for a family or a group of friends, this exclusive

Standout Venue Features:

The Main Lodge building draws guests like bees to honey. It is from here that having breakfasted well, guests either set off for adventure, or settle in a comfortable chair with a book beside a log fire.

Come evening, candles are lit, lights dimmed and the drinks set out. Guests gather to make each other’s acquaintance, share stories of their day and enjoy the superb cuisine, prepared using the finest of ingredients and complemented by exceptional wines. Service is both solicitous and seamless, designed to anticipate.
