Venue Setting

Just opened in March 2016, Martinhal Cascais Family Hotel features 68 hotel rooms and four hotel suites, as well as 12 exclusive villas. Located along the coast in the tony Cascais suburb of Lisbon, the hotel combines the best of the Lisbon city experience with the scenic beauty of Portugal’s coastline. Guestrooms include a private balcony or terrace, and offer Italian designer Lollypop bunk beds to accommodate children. Each villa comprises two bedrooms, a full kitchen, living room, dining area and access to a private terrace.
 
Martinhal Cascais is home to three dining venues: O Terraço, a Portuguese restaurant led by Executive Chef Alexandre Cláudio; Os Gambozinos, an Italian Trattoria; and M-Bar, where guests may enjoy coffee, snacks and pastries.  The hotel is also home to the Finisterra Spa and three pools, and is located between two championship golf courses – Quinta da Marinha and Oitavos.
 
Children are central to the Martinhal philosophy, and Martinhal Cascais has created a clubhouse with over 7,700 square feet of play space for children ages six months to early teens. The Kids Club features various areas, each specially designed to stimulate and cater to each age group. The hotel also offers in-room or in-suite babysitting and an unsupervised playground where parents can play with their kids.

Martinhal Cascais Family Hotel was designed by award-winning and widely acclaimed Portuguese architect João Paciência. The architect modeled this “U-shaped” hotel amidst the pine forests and the golf course already existing on the land. The extensive and clever use of the rusty stone “Xisto Mourisca” on the outside of the hotel gives it a contemporary, strong presence amidst the pine trees. His idea was to have a great sense of arrival with the double-height atrium in the hotel, framing the outdoor patio with exquisite gardens as soon as the guest entered. His modern form is brought together inside the hotel with materials such as white marble, dark granite, copper, wood, and glass – which cement together the contemporary form and function which he intended for the hotel. Apart from several iconic works in his home-country of Portugal, Paciênca has designed great buildings in Algeria and Mozambique – perhaps his most striking one is in Algiers – the Great Museum of Africa.

Martinhal Cascais features 9 spacious meeting rooms and 3 exceptional venues with a total capacity for over 600 people. Our largest space for banquet events with set menu has a capacity for up to 200 with natural daylight and relaxing views to the garden and Pool Hangout. For weddings, christenings and other celebrations we have a myriad of perfect space, indoors or outdoors, including our unique 19th century Hunting Lodge with an impressive double-height glass ceiling.

Os Gambozinos - An Italian Trattoria serving up traditional family favorites such as pizza and pasta, Os Gambozinos is a popular lunch spot for adults and children alike.
